Frogtown, USA.....Several Calaveras County Fair Board Meetings will take place on March 9th at Frogtown.....A combined Executive and Finance Committee meeting of the Board of Directors of the 39th District Agricultural Association will held in the Administration Building, Frogtown, Angels Camp, California at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 9, 2011; A regular Board Meeting of the Board of Directors of the 39th District Agricultural Association will be held in the Board Room, Frogtown®; Angels Camp, California at 5:30PM on Wednesday March 9, 2011. Policy Statement: The Board shall serve as the policy-making body for the 39th District Agricultural Association and shall have full responsibility for the year-round management and operation of all facilities of the 39th District Agricultural Association. Public Comments: Any member of the public wishing to address the Board on any matter listed for consideration on this agenda shall fill out a Speakers Form and provide it to the Board’s Recording Secretary. Frogtown, USA....The decks of a 25-foot-long pirate ship will explode with a national marionette show at this year’s Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee. The Mitchell Marionettes will be one of the featured activities in KidZone three times each day of the Fair, May 19-22. KidZone is a child-centered entertainment area that is fully sponsored by Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital. .....

Junior Fair Board Applications Are Due Soon |

Angels Camp, CA....The 2011 Calaveras County Fair Junior Fair Board Applications, which are available at the high schools, the Fairground office, or online will be due by March 14 at 5:00 p.m. Applications must be in the office by the 14th; postmarks will not be accepted. The Junior Fair Board offers both scholarship and interpersonal learning opportunities to local high school students. New to the 2011 applicants are an increase in required cumulative GPA and a mandatory orientation and interview session on Saturday, April 2nd at 10:00 a.m. Scholarship applications for high school seniors are also .....

Competition Book for Calaveras County Fair Now Available |

Angels Camp, CA....The Competition Guide Book for the 2011 Calaveras County Fair and has a new look and format. The entry guide book describes the process to enter into fair time competitions, everything from art to baked goods. The 2011 book has a new – reader friendly format. Entry categories are distinguished by exhibit hall. The type is much bigger and areas of interest are profound. In 2011 there will be an additional exhibit building dedicated to home arts and in the guide book there is an entire section describing the home art competitions. Other areas of interest are separated accordingly.....

Angels Camp, CA....At the monthly Friends of the Fair Board Member meeting Wednesday evening, a decision was reached by the Board to reduce the annual membership dues to $25 per family. The Friends of the Fair hope to gain new members including the more “junior” citizens of our community. The Friends of the Fair are looking for members all over the county to join the Board and dedicate their time and ideas to the Fair in an effort to guarantee its success and survival. Any community members interested in joining the Friends of the Fair are encouraged to do so. Simply contact the Fairground Office to learn more. Meetings are held the third Wednesday of every month at CAMPS Restaurant in Angels Camp. ....
