Angels Camp, CA...The 2013 Miss Calaveras Pageant filled the stands to watch 10 young ladies vie for the coveted title. They join in the long tradition of pageant at a County Fair that stretches it's own lineage back to the Gold Rush. Chelsea Ruthrauff, Amanda Carlin, Shannon Hummel, Amanda Sheehan, Julia Weist, Shelby Reese, Nicole Huddy,and Amanda Norwood, Carleigh Bates and Jamie Lee Gehrmann were the contestants. Chelsea Ruthrauff is the 2013 Miss Calaveras with Nicole Huddy as first runner up, and Shelby Reese as second runner up. In our little corner of the world this show is a Big Deal every year. The local cable channel sends a mufti-camera crew and records the entire show for later rebroadcast. from Frogtown. We again this year pushed the show out with a webcast and recorded it with a second camera for playback. Lydia Stafford captured the event masterfully with her lens with over 300 photos in all. We would like to thank Sissy's Bella Salon, Small Town Girl an Bling in Murphys for sponsoring coverage of the 2013 Miss Calaveras Pageant.

Lindy Winkler and "Boot Scootn Croaker" Take the Government Frog Jump

San Andreas, CA...The Calaveras County Government Frog Jump Hopped into the record books on May 7th with the Assessors Office taking the win and going 1-2 this year. The Government Jump is a sanctioned jump and the winner is automatically qualified for the Frog Jump Finals this Sunday. Lindy Winkler took top honors Jockeying "Boot Scootn' Croaker"with a 13'9" jump. Adriane Parris, last years winner slipped a notch with a 11'9" jump jockeying "Toadly Awesome". The Library Hopped Strong with a 11'3" Jump for Marcia Thompson and "Icky Sticky"...
Kids 12 and under are Free Thursday and Friday at The Calaveras County Fair and Frog Jump Jubilee

Frogtown, USA....The Calaveras County Fair & Jumping Frog Jubilee offers free admission for children who are 12 and under on Thursday and Friday of the Jubilee. Adults are only $8. Angels Camp, CA...Gold Miner Save money on Carnival Wristbands and Admission Tickets! The Calaveras County Fair is selling discount Admission, Barrel of Monkeez and Carnival tickets on line.
