Frogtown, USA.... "Fun For The Whole Herd" was announced as the theme For 2014 Calaveras Fair and Frog Jump Jubilee at the Volunteer - Staff Appreciation Mixer on Friday at the "Ranch House" at Frogtown. The Calaveras County Fair Board of Directors and the Friends of the Calaveras County Fair hosted the event. Now that the theme has been announced plans will start gelling and getting in place for the 2014 fair..

PROVIDENCE, R.I. [Brown University] — One day, amid his decades-long study of how animals move, including how frogs jump, Brown University biologist Thomas Roberts found himself and colleague Richard Marsh puzzling over the Guinness Book of World Records. A bullfrog named Rosie the Ribiter reportedly had jumped more than 2.1 meters in a single hop at the Calaveras County Jumping Frog Jubilee in 1986, but scientific studies had never reported a bullfrog jump beyond 1.3 meters.

Angels Camp, CA...Soroptimist International of Calaveras County is preparing for their 16th Annual Teddy Bear Tea to be held at Frog Town in Angels Camp Sunday, November 3, 2013. The traditional holiday affair brings together a magical day for children and adults still young at heart. Children will enjoy a visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus, balloon animals from Krinkles the Clown, pictures with costumed ballerinas & the giant Teddy Bear, face painting, and holiday crafts. This year two dance groups will perform tap, hip hop, and ballet numbers as attendees enjoy a beautifully decorated ballroom and a scrumptious formal tea prepared by A Catered Affair based in Angels Camp....

FROGTOWN -- Officials at the Calaveras County Fairgrounds are asking for the public’s help in finding the perpetrators who have vandalized Frogtown several times in the past month. Almost $2,000 in damages was done when someone tampered with the locked electronic sewer monitoring device. On another occasion, someone broke into Mark Twain Hall and sprayed three large fire extinguishers around the room...

Frogtown Cross Country More than just a Fairgrounds! |

Frogtown, CA...Every fall the Calaveras County Fairgrounds becomes a cross country track for thousands of Northern California student athletes. The fairgrounds has 71 acres of land and along with the neighboring ranch becomes one of the most difficulty cross country courses in the State. Four of the meets are hosted by Bret Harte High School and Manteca High also holds a meet at the facility. Once a year local junior high students also try the course. This year's meets are September 18 and 21, October 30, November 2 and 3..
