Murphys, CA...In Addition the the great shots Hanna Heath took of Little League Opening Day, we also stopped by the venues and took a bit of video as the season gets underway. The Ebbetts Pass Little League kicked off their season at Feeney Park in Murphys on Saturday morning. The place was buzzing with activity as the kids started swinging. It also seemed a bit like a neighborhood block party as all the familiar faces are back together for another season...

Angels Camp, CA....The Angelus Ranus 4-H presented their 20th Annual Youth Poultry Show at Frogtown today. Judging began at 9:00 am and Showmanship at 10am . There were over 280 types of Poultry including ducks, geese, chickens, bantams, turkeys and many other type of birds. Kids from all over Northern California will brought their birds to show. Prizes were given for Best of Show, $100.00, Reserve of Show, $50.00. and many more.....

Angels Camp, CA….Four young eighth grade beauties signed up to run for this years Jr. Miss Calaveras pageant today. Today, Event Coordinator Ed Ritter and Queen Coordinator Cheri LaSan held a pageant meeting at the Altaville Melones Volunteer Fire Department, to answer any questions from the queen candidates and to hand out a roll of raffle tickets among the girls. Angels Camp, CA...Put together your finest duds and display them across Main Street. Just like the miners of yesteryear, you can get all gussied up for the Jubilee. There are six lines available. All line participants will receive a plaque. The winning entry will also receive 25 admission passes to the Fair and the people’s choice award will receive 20 admission passes to the Fair. Murphys, CA…. Ironstone Vineyards was in full bloom for Daffodil Days 2008, this weekend. The yellow celebration included food, wine, art and thousands of daffodils. Ironstone has 14 acres of approximately 500,000 daffodils in bloom during this time of year, creating a yellow field of blooms along the road into the vineyards and winery….

Murphys, CA….Thousands of people lined the streets of down town Murphys this afternoon for the 17th annual Irish Day celebration. The yearly Irish tradition brought the “Luck of the Irish” weather, wet and cold. For the first half of the morning the sun was peaking through the large puffy clouds with a slight mist in the air, common weather in Ireland. Around one o’clock after the parade had ended; a total change in weather had thousands of people fleeing for cover. The light mist had turned into rain, hail, and then snow. The bad weather however didn’t stop thousands of locals and tourists from all over the United States from coming and celebrating St. Patrick…..
