Milliaire Scores a Triple Double Gold Medals |

Murphys, CA...Milliaire Winery of Murphys has scored a record setting three Double Gold Medals this year. The winery received prestigious Double Gold Medals for the 2007 Calaveras County Ghirardelli Vineyard Zinfandel at the California State Fair; 2009 Sierra Foothills Chardonnay at the El Dorado County Fair; and for the 2008 Sierra Foothills Syrah at the Calaveras County Fair. A Double Gold indicates a unanimous award by the judging panel, and/or a score of more than 98 out of 100 points. The State Fair also named the 2007 Ghirardelli Zinfandel “Best Zinfandel in the Sierra Foothills.”...

Murphys, CA...Caltrans crews will be cutting brush and mowing along Hwy 4 from Darby Russell road up to the Camp Connell Maintenance Station. There may be 5 minutes delays and one-way traffic controls in effect. The work should be completed by June 30th. Please use caution in this area...

Hot summer weather should be here just in time for your 4th of July weekend & that has everybody thinking of getting out on the water! Our kayak sales &rentals have been very brisk these past couple weeks. If you're thinking about renting a boat in Arnold this weekend, Saturday is almost sold out, but we have good availability on Sunday & Monday. Don't forget - we havestand-up paddleboards (SUP) in our rental fleet & young people love 'em. It's a great workout & it's fun. See you on the water!!

Murphys, CA...The Calaveras Winegrape Alliance hosted another great Passport Weekend. Hundreds of wine aficionados filled Murphys to partake of our area's bountiful wine offerings. The kickoff dinner took place in the cozy confines of Murphys Community Park. Jenny's Full House Band entertained the crowd as the creek played accompaniment on the side. It was a great weekend as Passport Weekend led into the Willie Nelson Concert that kicked off the Ironstone Summer Concert Series for 2011.

Murphys, CA...The San Andreas Office of the California Highway Patrol conducted a Sobriety/License Checkpoint last night on Hwy 4 and Pennsylvania Gulch Road. They screened 572 vehicles...
