Advice For Choosing a Back Pack from Pinnacle Physical Therapy

Angels Camp, CA...As you and your child plan and shop for the items on your “Back to School” list, think carefully about that new back pack. To avoid injury, choose a backpack that is the appropriate size for the back it needs to fit. Select a pack with well-padded shoulder straps to prevent too much pressure from being placed on the neck and shoulders. A proper fitting backpack should rest evenly in the middle of the back, with both straps placed on the shoulders. Straps should be snug, but not overly tight; basically, the strap should be easy to take on and off but not allow the pack to hang more than 4 inches below the waist. If the backpack comes with a waist belt, it should be worn to help distribute the weight more evenly...

Charlie & Lola Are Waiting For You

Here are some of dogs that are currently at the county shelter and available for adoption. While these dogs are at the county shelter, Calaveras Humane Socoety is working to get them out and into their forever homes. Charlie is a Bloodhound/German Shepherd mix and is about 10 to 12 months old. He weighs 51 lbs., and is still growing. Lola is an Anatolian mix (maybe Saluki) and is about 2 years old. Murphys, CA...We have had reports of some power outages and brown outs in the Forrest Meadows area. The latest from PG&E has the power being restored soon. At peak they reported 84 customers without power..

Calaveras Community Foundation Adds Two Board Members

Angels Camp, CA...Terry Beaudoin and Gil Valtierra were recently welcomed to the Calaveras Community Foundation (CCF) Board of Directors. The Beaudoin family moved to Valley Springs in 1986. Since then Terry has been involved in several local fund raising efforts and was on the founding board of the “Kids Place” after school day care which is still running at Valley Springs Elementary. He is a former Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus. Terry and wife Sharon raised their 2 children in the Calaveras school system and have developed a great love for this county...

Duck Races Highlight Old Timers Day

Murphys, CA... The 64th annual Murphys Homecoming was held on July 20. The Murphys Community Club put on another great event. Highlighting the day were duck races benefiting the Calaveras Humane Society. It was a great day that celebrated long time residents with a free lunch and lots of memories and remembrances of "Do Your Remember When"
