Newest Eagle Scout for Troop 343 of Murphys

Posted by: thepinetree on 10/25/2013 11:58 AM
Murphys, CA...Paul Schuck, 18, was added to Boy Scout Troop 343’s list of Eagle Scouts at a ceremony held at the Lions Hut in Murphys. Paul started scouts when he was 7 years old as a Tiger Cub Scout and not long after that he began saying that he wanted to be an Eagle Scout one day. He achieved that goal on July 17, 2013. For Paul’s Eagle Project he made a wooden sign for Harmony Ranch, a non-profit therapeutic horseback riding program for children and adults with or without special needs. Harmony Ranch is located in Mountain Ranch and run by Tara Glessman. Paul did most of the work on the sign at the Bret Harte High School woodshop under the direction of Verne Johnson....

Your New Best Friend is Waiting For You at The Shelter

Posted by: thepinetree on 10/25/2013 02:13 PM
San Andreas, CA...Heidi is an extremely beautiful, calm German Shepherd Pointer, weighs 51.9 pounds, is 2-3 years old, needs to be spayed, has had all shots except rabies and her heartworm test is pending. Heidi is a very well behaved girl who can do with a little leash training. She seems to like other dogs, comes when called and was totally mellow and relaxed on all of the temperament tests. Tootsie is a 5-6 year old spayed Chi mix who weighs in at 6 pounds. Poor little Tootsie was found wandering around all by herself. Tootsie just wants to be with a human who will cuddle and spoil her and let her sit on a nice warm lap. She does not seem very interest in other dogs or cats but sure may like a friend to be with in a new forever home. She will need a rabies shot but has her other shots...

Exotic Ugandan Benefit Dinner

Posted by: thepinetree on 10/24/2013 04:18 PM
Murphys, CA...A dinner featuring a variety of delicious Ugandan dishes will be held at the Native Sons Hall in Murphys on November 15th from 6-8:30 p.m. African music and drumming will be part of the evening. Proceeds of the dinner will help the Abandoned Children and Youth Association (ACYA) in Uganda. The ACYA runs an orphanage in Uganda that house s and cares for 30 children who have lost their parents to AIDS. There is a real need for help; the orphanage has been farming on a three and a half acre property, which provides food for the children, but the owner needs to sell the property. We hope this dinner will go a long way to help raise $7000 to purchase the property. Please come and support this worthy cause.
