Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office K-9 "Buster" Is On Duty & Ready To Serve |

San Andreas, CA...The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office would like to introduce “Buster” to the community. Buster is Dutch Sheppard narcotic detection canine. This is the first canine in over 14 years for the department. The Sheriff’s Office recognized the need for a canine however, funding for the program has always been the determining factor. The funding hurdle was overcome largely in part from a partnership with a local non-profit organization Friends of Calaveras Sheriff Office. Friends of the Sheriff organization stepped up and provided 100% funding for the purchase, training, and equipment needed for the program. Friends of the Sheriff have also pledged to continue their support to the program by assisting with monthly and yearly financial needs of the canine team...

San Andreas, CA...Monday, June 2, 2014 at 8:00 AM, the Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit of the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) will suspend outdoor burning within State Responsibility Areas of Tuolumne County, Calaveras County, Eastern Stanislaus County and Eastern San Joaquin County. These restrictions will remain in effect until further notice....

Las Vegas, NV. -- TJ Dillashaw shocked the world at the Ulitimate Fighting Championship on Saturday night, knocking out Renan Barao in the final round of their bantamweight title fight inside MGM Grand Garden Arena. The result snaps a 33-fight unbeaten streak for Barao that dated back to April 2005. "I've dreamed it for so long, it's unbelievable," Dillashaw said. Barao was heralded as perhaps the top pound-for-pound fighter in the world ahead of Saturday, but he was hopelessly outclassed against a significant underdog. Usually these are almost perfunctory and his removal is surprising in light of the fact that from the outside looking in he was highly regarded and has outwardly provided competent leadership....

The dedication ceremony kicked off with the Calaveras Community Band led by Mic Harper at 10 am followed by Bret Harte HS Senior Brice Gilpan singing the Star Spangled Banner...

Murphys, CA...It was a fortuitous meeting when members of the Kautz family met artist and sculptor John Kobald when traveling. He became the sculptor to deliver the centerpiece of an incredible gift to the Ebbetts Pass Veterans District's Veterans Memorial and the community. The artist is pictured below the full sized, larger than life, bronze stature unveiled this morning. The Kautz Family underwrote the costs of the expansion improvements at veteran's memorial. We will have full video and many photos from today's event posted later today...
