June's First Friday in the Park - June 13, 2014 |

| Murphys, Ca...To kick off this year’s season of First Fridays in the Park neighborhood concerts, the sponsoring Murphys Community Club is actually staging the June event on the second Friday of the month, June 13, to avoid a conflict with the graduation ceremony at Bret Harte High School. “It has become a tradition to move our June performance ahead seven days,” states MCC president Suzanne Friedman. “With many of our families involved with Bret Harte we don’t want to compete with the school’s important year-end celebration.”From June to September, First Friday in the Park will feature a performance by a local musical group playing in the iconic gazebo starting at 5:30 p.m. From 5 p.m., a special dinner will be available for purchase at $10.00 per person and a featured local wine will be on sale along with other beverages. Friends and neighbors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy a small town America gathering in the cool confines of Murphys Community Park.... |

Arnold, CA...When I decided to run for Calaveras County Supervisor District 3, I was determined that my campaign would be run in an ethical manner based on the issues, and without attacking my opponents or ‘dirty tricks’ which I’m proud to say we have honored. Unfortunately, not everyone operates with the same ethics or morals. I knew that running for public office would open the door to personal attacks, rumors, mistruths, and innuendos which are common place in politics. What is not common place is the personal attacks directed at my campaign volunteers that are not running for office, nor do they make policy decisions for my campaign. I’m writing to you today to clarify and dispel several mistruths being touted by an opponent; Mistruth #1: The Oliveira Campaign is telling people that Mike Borean wants to restrict/close access to public lands....

Murphys, Ca...Days are hotter and the summertime transition is upon us. Our kids have a week left of school, we've already been hitting the pool regularly and frog jump is history. The shop filled with new goodies perfect for this time of year, and we're preparing for fun - Knit Nights for Summer: We're making a change to our weekly gatherings starting in June. Shifting it from Thurs nights to Sundays 2-5pm starting June 8th. Come hang out and work on projects....or just come to hang out, knit then go home and rip back to fix mistakes (which is usually what we all do)...
