Murphys, CA...Today: Mostly cloudy. Scattered rain showers in the morning... Then isolated showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Highs 60 to 75 higher elevations...74 to 86 lower elevations. Prevailing southwest winds up to 15 mph. Tonight: Mostly clear. At higher elevations...isolated showers and thunderstorms in the evening. Lows 43 to 57 higher elevations...51 to 61 lower elevations. Prevailing southwest winds 5 to 15 mph shifting to the southeast after midnight. Friday: Mostly sunny. Warmer. Highs 66 to 81 higher elevations...78 to 90 lower elevations. Light winds becoming southwest 5 to 15 mph in the afternoon. Over ridges...prevailing southwest winds up to 20 mph. Friday Night: Mostly clear. Lows 45 to 60 higher elevations... 53 to 65 lower elevations. Prevailing west winds 5 to 15 mph in the evening becoming light. Saturday: Mostly sunny. A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Warmer. Highs 70 to 85 higher elevations...84 to 92 lower elevations. Prevailing east winds up to 10 mph shifting to the west in the afternoon.

Murphys, CA...The Fist Friday of each month during the summer are another excuse for locals and visitors to head on over to Murphys Community Park, Grab Some Delicious Food and Beverages and more. With live music in the gazebo and cool water in the stream to soak your toes summer evenings don't get much better than this. Murphys, CA....Maisie E Schachten was born on July 9, 1917 and grew up in the San Francisco Bay area. She married Lenwood M Schachten before WWII and they settled in Murphys Ca. where Lenwood was born and raised. They had 2 sons Tom and James Schachten. Maisie worked as a Psychical Therapist at Bret Harte Sanatorium in Murphys for years and then finished up her medical career at San Joaquin General Hospital in Stockton Ca.. She then spent the last 35 years, prior to Lenwood’s death, helping him in their cabinet shop....
