Murphys, CA...We are still looking for volunteers to help with our street closures....please let Lucky know if you are able to volunteer yourself, your family, your friends or a distant acquaintance. We really need your help with this as we are still about 10-15 folks short this morning. You can contact Lucky at 209-728-8295 or lucky@banderaca.com. Bring her a new volunteer and receive a second raffle ticket as well as one for the new volunteer....and both of you can join us next Friday for our Volunteer Thank You party at the Lions Hut on March 22nd at 6 pm....

Murphys, Ca...“The Autism Chronicles,” endeavors to provide insight into what dealing with autism is like and what a group of dedicated people at the Mind Matters Clinic in Murphys is doing to ease the burdens. Written by Mark Wilson, directed by Terri Wilson, the hour-long play uses the actual words of the people portrayed to tell its stories. It has poignancy laced with humor. Admission is ten dollars per person if reserved in advance and twelve dollars at the door. Information may be obtained, and reservations made, by calling 728-2184...

Angels Camp, Ca...Calaveras Arts Council’s Ovations Series 2013 comes to a close with international performer, flautist, Viviana Guzman. She is performing with Frank Levy on piano, Alan Hall on drums, and Michel Taddei on bass. The performance is at the Dr. Elliott Smart Performing Arts Center in Angels Camp on Sunday, March 17, 2013. The theater is located at Bret Harte High School, 323 Highway 49, in Angels Camp. Doors open at 2:30pm and the music begins at 3:00pm...

Murphys, Ca...Plans are underway for the second annual Off the Beaten Path – Walk/Run
for Autism Awareness to be held Saturday, April 27 under the auspices of Mind Matters, the Murphys based clinic that treats autism and related disorders.
“We were really excited by the number of participants we had last year,” states Gloria Miller, who is coordinating the event on behalf of Mind Matters. “Notall the details are in place for this year but we want to give prospective runners and walkers a heads up so they can mark their calendars.”... |

Murphys, CA...March 16, 2013 - Murphys Irish Day - Murphys honors it’s Celtic heritage and celebrates as only the Irish can. Main Street is filled with booths offering hand crafted items, original art, photographs, tasty food, wine, beer and other beverages. The Congregational Church offers its popular pancake breakfast. The parade starts promptly at 11 am, and, as we all know, it never rains on the Murphys parade! There is always free all day entertainment featuring singers, dancers, musicians and pony rides for the young ones. Tickets for our famous raffle for a trip for two to Ireland are available at many shops around town right now or you can pick them up at the MBA booth in front of the Native Sons Hall during the event. Parking and free shuttle to town and back will be available at Ironstone Vineyards. Come early on Friday and stay late on Sunday and take some time to get to know Murphys. Sunday, March 24, at 2 p.m. Cooking With Turf is a trio of friends who share years of playing Celtic traditional music. They mainly present Irish and Scottish music, but have a repertoire of British, Breton Galician tunes as well. They also have an American repertoire featuring Canadian, New England and Appalachian traditions. They have been performing since the 1990s in the Bay Area, San Joaquin Valley and Sierra Foothills...

Murphys, CA...With great weather in the forecast and spring in the air this Saturday's Murphys Irish Day might be a record breaker. The Clovers have been freshly painted and there is a nice green line between the yellows from end to end on Main Street. If you haven't been before now may be your year to celebrate all things Irish and Green in Murphys. Start your day off with a pancake breakfast and get a good spot for the parade. Then wander the town as most of the local businesses will be in a festive mood in addition to all the booths vendors on the street. The town will start livening up on Friday Night so with great snow skiing in the mountains, wine tasting and golf in the foothills and 50,000 Daffodils in bloom at Ironstone Vineyards now is the perfect time to pay us a visit!!!
