San Andreas, CA....Mark Twain Medical Center announces the successful recruitment of Dr. Shiva Singhal to the Mark Twain Cancer Center, where she will be joining Dr. Robert D’Acquisto and staff, serving the Tri-County area. “We are thrilled to welcome another outstanding Oncologist to our Cancer Center Practice,” said Craig Marks, Hospital President. “Over the past year we have expanded upon our care to the community, and we are continuing to grow. Dr. Singhal brings tremendous experience in specialty care as a Hospitalist, Internal Medicine Physician and family practice experience from the Chicago area and the East Coast.” Dr. Singhal completed her Doctorate of Medicine at Lady Hardinge, followed by a Residency in Internal Medicine at Saint Joseph Hospital, University of Illinois, in Chicago, IL and Fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at the University of Missouri, where she served as Chief Fellow....

| Murphys, CA...Lynne Rae Lowery was born in California on December 4, 1946. She passed away at her residence in Murphys on February 10, 2014. She was a resident of Calaveras County for the past 40 years. She worked in many different jobs in the past including Bartending and Waitressing at the Murphys Hotel and various other local restaurants, as well as Tranex Electronics Company in Vallecito and lastly as a cook at Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital in San Andreas for 10 years... |

Oyster & Lobster Shooters
1 8-ounce steamed lobster tail, 8 raw oysters, Cocktail Sauce, get recipe here, Green Tabasco sauce, Garnish, Lime zest, Thinly sliced green onion, 1. Place the lobster tail on a cutting board and cut into 8 equal slices. 2. Place 1 oyster in a double shot glass, top with a slice of lobster, a heaping tablespoon of the cocktail sauce, a splash of green Tabasco sauce, some lime zest and a few green, onion. Repeat with the remaining ingredients. Follow up with some sparkling wine & romance!

Murphys, CA....This year marked the 7th Annual Super Bowl Chili Cook Off held here at The Murphys Historic Hotel. It was the first “Chilly” day this year but it didn’t stop the 17 Teams and 176 Tasters from having a Great Time! The 17 teams competed for “The Grand Champion” Judges Choice Award & 4 People’s Choice Awards that included the “Best Theme”Award. This year we helped raise $1420.00 for “Hospice of Amador & Calaveras” and 135 cans of food for “The Resource Connection” (Calaveras County Food Bank). These totals are more than double from our 1st Annual in 2008, this was our Best Year Yet! This is always a great community-supported event!
