Murphys, CA....County Supervisor Merita Callaway will host two open-to-everyone events, one in Arnold, the other in Murphys, to kick off her campaign for re-election in District 3. The first will be Wednesday, March 12, at the Milliaire Winery, 276 Main St. in Murphys, an area that was added to the district in 2011. The event will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. “I am looking forward to meeting and chatting with the voters in the Murphys/Douglas Flat area,” says Callaway. “Although I know many of them, having been involved in their various events over the years, this will be the first time they will have an opportunity to vote for me as their supervisor.”

It is called Unthinkable: An Airline Captain's Story (2014) From the film's IMDB page "Marshall Philips has seen and written about things the intelligence community doesn't want people talking about - much less writing books about. Arnold, CA...Bristol's Ranch House Cafe opened it's doors last Monday night for an Ice Cream Social led by District 3 Supervisor candidate Michael Oliveira. Other candidates for county office attended as well including Candidates for Judge Grant Barrett & Dana Pfeil. The economy, jobs, law enforcement and more topped the discussion topics.

Murphys, CA...Ping-Pong and tennis enthusiasts will share the spotlight when the Murphys Area Community Tennis Association (MACTA) stages a double-barreled event at the group’s Wintercreek Facility and the adjacent Lions Club Hall on Saturday, March 22, starting at 9 a.m. Both facilities are located behind the historic schoolhouse on Jones St. in Murphys. A Ping-Pong tournament, open to everyone, will take place in the Lions Club Hall. A doubles round robin will be held in the morning with a singles, double elimination in the afternoon...

Murphys, CA....Can this be posted on THEPINETREE website? Found this dog running frantically along the highway 4 near Red Apple Ranch. Does not have a collar and tag on her but maybe she has a microchip. I live in Arnold and have her at my home. Vet, sheriff substation, fire station and animal shelter are closed today. Murphys, CA....The Hon. Douglas V. Mewhinney, who recently retired as the Presiding Judge of the Calaveras County Superior Court, will be the Grand Marshall when the Murphys Irish Day Parade makes its way down Main Street on Saturday, March 15, starting at 11 a.m. “We feel the Grand Marshall should be someone who has played an important role in making our area the wonderful place that it is,” states Carrie Nelson, who with her husband Gerry oversees the parade. “Judge Mewhinney certainly meets that criteria.” Mewhinney has served the county in a number of roles since 1977 when he was chosen to be the Deputy District Attorney. He later became District Attorney and then transferred to the other side of the bench as a Justice Court Judge. He has been a Superior Court judge since 1998....
