Registrations Open For Youth Tennis Clinics |

| Angels Camp and Murphys, Ca...Registrations are now being accepted for a series of Youth Tennis Clinics to be held in Calaveras County beginning June 9. Organized by Angella Woods, a member of the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) since 2003, the program is open to all junior players, ages 6 to 17, with a special emphasis on current and aspiring high school athletes. The sessions will be held at Bret Harte High School, Angels Camp, and the Wintercreek Tennis Facility in Murphys. The clinics will be divided into five sessions, each scheduled for Monday through Friday, 8:30 – 10:30 a.m... |

Soroptimist International of Calaveras County Holds Fourth Annual Chili Cook Off |

Murphys, Ca...Soroptimist International of Calaveras County held its fourth annual “Take It To Heart” Chili Cook Off at the Murphys Historic Hotel on May 3. Best Chili winners were Witness Protection, who also took third place for their theme. The Best Theme was created by the Chili Queens. Net proceeds from the event help fund SI of Calaveras County’s “Take Women To Heart” program, in partnership with Mark Twain Medical Center, providing free lipid tests to Calaveras County women...

Murphys, Ca...This necklace was last seen when it was mailed to an art gallery from the Murphys Post Office in December of 2013. According to the tracking information, the package never left the post office; neither the original owner, nor the art gallery, has seen the necklace since. If you or someone you know has seen this necklace, please contact the authorities.

Angels Camp, CA...Wednesday Was Awards Night for the Class of 2014. The Bret Harte Theatre was filled with proud parents, grand parents, friends and well wishers as they heard of the scholarships and accolades members of the Bret Harte Class Of 2014 received. The scholarship totals were impressive as well as. The 93 of our young scholars received $186,436.00 in assistance to further their education. Congratulations to all and the recipients and contributing groups are enclosed....
