Murphys, CA...Twenty-four players from Calaveras, Amador, and Tuolumne counties took part in the Second Annual Ladies Invitational tournament put on by the Murphys Area Community Tennis Association (MACTA) on Saturday, February 21. Preliminary matches took place at Bret Harte High School, Angels Camp, with the finals held at MACTA’s Wintercreek Facility in Murphys...

| Murphys, CA...Joyce Tanner peacefully passed away at her home in Murphys, CA March 1, 2015. Joyce was born in Hayward Wisconsin in August 1923. She moved to Murphys in 1948, where she met and married her husband of 65 years, Irvin Tanner. Joyce was a homemaker who enjoyed golf, bridge, dominos, puzzles and CHOCLATE! She loved the flowers in her back yard by Murphys Creek and her many friends who came to visit and share their lives with her... |

No snow accumulation lower elevations...up to 1 inch higher elevations. Snow level 4500 feet. Light winds becoming southwest up to 10 mph in the afternoon. Tonight Mostly cloudy with scattered rain and snow showers in the evening...then partly cloudy after midnight. Lows 16 to 31 higher elevations...30 to 38 lower elevations. Snow level 5500 feet. Prevailing west winds up to 10 mph in the evening becoming light. Tuesday Partly cloudy in the morning then clearing. Not as cool. Highs 33 to 48 higher elevations...48 to 56 lower elevations. Our retail business is located near a service station in a much visited nook of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Over the years, while fueling their vehicles, many people, from all over the United States, have come to our garden center to visit and stretch their legs. The most often heard remark from these visitors is some version of “I can’t believe the selection you offer here. Our local garden center closed and now all the big box chains offer the same few plants.” We knew we had quite a selection, but we didn’t know how unusual our offerings were. Murphys, CA...All the features offered by Apple’s popular iTunes application will be the main topic at the next meeting of the Sierra Macintosh Users Group (SMUG) to be held, Tuesday, March 10, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the community room of the Murphys Library, 480 Park Lane, adjacent to Murphys Park. The application has many functions. It is a media player, media library, and online radio broadcaster used to play, download, and organize digital audio and video on personal computers and other electronic devices. Through the iTunes Store, users can purchase and download music, music videos, television shows, audiobooks, podcasts, and movies.....
