Murphys, CA...Due to an unexpected scheduling conflict, The Band Perry must move their show up from Thursday, August 13th to Tuesday, August 11th. The support act will also change from Scotty McCreery to Jana Kramer. The opening act, Casey James, will remain the same. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience, and if you cannot attend on the rescheduled date, refunds will be offered from point of purchase up until the new show day, August 11th.”

Twain Harte, CA...On 7/21/15 at approx. 1050 hours, the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office was notified by Umpqua bank employees that a robbery had just occurred. Two black male adults, believed to be late teens or early 20’s entered the bank and demanded money. The two males jumped over the counter, tackling one of the tellers to the ground. An undisclosed amount of money was taken by the two suspects and they left the building on foot, unknown direction of travel. Sheriff’s personnel and assisting agencies are checking the area for the suspects. No weapon was seen at the time of the robbery. It is unknown if the suspects had a vehicle...
Murphys, CA...Jim Stewart of Murphys, aged 63, died on July 13, 2015. He was a fifth generation Calaveras County native, born in San Andreas in 1951 to Vern and Gloria Stewart. He graduated from Calaveras High School. Jim grew up helping out in the family business, Stewart Ford and Mercury. As an adult he became a general contractor building many custom homes in the Murphys/Arnold area. He served in the U.S. Army as a personnel specialist from 1971 – 1972 in Fort Hood, Texas. Jim enjoyed spending time with his family, playing golf and exploring back roads on his motorcycle. He was a member of the Angels Gun Club, Native Sons of the Golden West and Northern California Golf Association.

Murphys, CA...The Vineyard Tour is an educational program and is open to the public. Only once a year do we have the opportunity to visit this many of the most interesting vineyards in Calaveras County and to have commentary from UC experts at each stop. Vineyard managers and winemakers working with these sites will discuss the challenges and successes while we sip the proprietary wines. The event concludes with the annual "Growers Barbecue" where we discuss the day’s events over locally grown and prepared food and more Calaveras wines.

Murphys, CA...The California Highway Patrol (CHP) San Andreas Area held an awards ceremony to acknowledge the extraordinary efforts of three members of the Department. Sergeant Brian Hemenway was awarded a State of California ‘Meritorious Achievement Award’ for saving a Caltrans worker from a burning vehicle. Recognition was also paid to Explorers Brianna Gill and Guillermo Hernandez, who were honored by the White House, with the ‘President’s Volunteer Service Award.’ This award is for the numerous hours of volunteer and community service they provided...
