Murphys, CA...Hello Everyone, We are fine the fire is still close and we are on Evacuations Advisories for Murphys. Mary and I have packed and are ready to go. We feel safe here in my metal building and think it would be nice to offer folks in town Lunch at 15% off. The menu is going to be limited but delicious. If the Evacuation status changes we will close immediately. So please come by if you are hungry. Chef Rob Christie

Butte Fire Southern Flank Overnight Update |

Murphys & Angels Camp, CA...We just spoke with the Butte Fire PIO to get an update on concerns some viewers have had about flame and smoke output impacting the area. Yes it is the fire you can see but at night things can appear closer than they are. While everyone needs to stay vigilant, aware and ready to go the fire is still a ridge and a drainage away from impacting more populated areas. The fire is at the top of a ridge so it is elevated and can be seen from miles away. Firefighters are actively engaging the fire all along the active fire fronts even in overnight hours.

Murphys, CA...On September 4th at approximately 1:55pm a 74 year old Fair Oaks woman was driving her 2012 Toyota RAV4 eastbound eastbound near upper Upper Utica Powerhouse Road. She allowed her Toyota to veer left from the eastbound lane of Hwy 4, cross the double yellow lines and into the oncoming westbound lane. She traveled directly into the path of a 34 year old Stockton woman driving a 2013 Honda. The front of the Toyota collided with the front of the Honda causing major damage to both vehicles.
