Murphys, CA...A group of young local individuals have banned together to create an event called the Phoenix Festival. The Phoenix Festival will take place on November 1st, 2015 at Ironstone Amphitheatre. This will be a day long family oriented event with a full lineup of local bands, vendors and resources. All proceeds from the Phoenix Festival will go directly to the Calaveras Community Foundations Disaster Relief Fund.

Murphys, CA...The Grapeful Dead stomping team of Jennifer & Dale Marcum took the 2015 Championships with a stunning total of 18.31 lbs of juice. After round after round of preliminary stomps, two semifinal heats and the championship round it was The Grapeful Dead from Los Gatos, Sushi & Waswabi from Hercules, Don't Stop Till You from San Jose, The Wright Stuff from Hercules, Hatcher Winery from Murphys, Pressing Matters from Angels Camp, Chico Crushers from Chico, Mucker Truckers from Burlingame, Fresno 55 Wine from Fresno & Get Hammered from Murphys.

Angels Camp, CA...The Bret Harte Bullfrogs hosted the Summerville Bears in a Mother Lode League Football match up Friday night. After falling into a two touchdown hole early in the game the Frogs clawed their way back into the game and held off the Bears in a last minute try for a two point conversion. It was a great win for Bret Harte.

Murphys, CA...Excited to announce a new partnership with my company and the Crowshaw family that owns Sierra Hills market and Angels Food market. We have been working on this project for a couple of months. We both wanted to do something that would serve our community. So we came up with the idea of shopping bags, because of the 1,000"s of plastic shopping bags that are used every month at his families stores. We did our research and discovered that 95% of those bags are not recycled, and that there is a huge impact on our environment here in Calaveras county! So, Starting today when you go into the Murphys store you will see a display by the magazines. It's for a FREE shopping bag. If you use one of these bags just 11 times you are making a huge difference in our environment! You can also find a schedule of free classes for the month of October. Additional racks will be at the murphys health food store and angels food market in the next few weeks.
