Murphys, CA....Each year one of the best places for young trick or treaters to hit the streets in search of a sugar high is the Rocky Hill neighborhood in Murphys. This is truly another great community event in our area! The streets are blocked off and Calaveras County Sheriff's Volunteers, Murphys Fire District & more watch over the event to make sure it is a meaningful childhood memory...

Murphys, CA...James Ralph Leonard passed away on Oct. 27, at home with his family after a valiant battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Louise Leonard; 3 daughters (and 3 son-in-laws) Kelly Stoffan (and John), Karen Borg (and Bill), Kathy Leonard (and Jesse); 8 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and brother Lawrence Leonard (and Norene). He will also be dearly missed by Mark Leonard (and Christy).

"Ban” Marijuana Initiative Finishes Signature Gathering Campaign |

Murphys, CA...The Committee to Ban Commercial Cultivation announced today that the signature gathering campaign to put its measure up for a vote of the citizens has successfully concluded. The Committee was formed in July, shortly after a previous and similar initiative failed due to improper document formatting. Having failed to get that initiative on the November ballot required any new initiative to meet the standards for a special election, requiring twice the number of valid signatures, nearly 3,200.
