Murphys, CA...The 25th Annual Irish Day Parade was one of the best yet. Main Street of our local Irish berg was filled to overflowing with residents and visitors alike as the 11am hour approached and entry after entry made their way down the parade route. Murphys, CA…After the parade crowd thinned out a bit we broke out our very high tech, and many would say drone like persona of a middle aged man with a camera on a stick. Our “drone” walked the entire Main Street to get you a 6-8ft high view of the festivities. No quadcopter here just an aching hip and a need of a snack when the “drone” made it to the other end of Main Street. Along the way we stopped a few times to get a few candid shots of the day and of course pipers, piping.

Murphys, CA....Yesterday was the 25th Annual Murphys Irish Day. We are sorting through over 1800 photos to put into our slideshow that will be up later today. The organizers really need to step up their game for next year though. As the photos below attest the crowd was no different than an average Saturday...

Major Injury, Felony DUI, Head On Collision On Murphys Grade Road Last Night |

Murphys, CA...A 57 year old Murphys woman sustained minor injuries and was arrested as a suspect in a felony DUI crash that injured Bret Harte Assistant Principal Heath Lane last night on Murphys Grade Road. De Lima was traveling westbound on Murphys Grade Road, east of Fairview Park, at an unknown speed. Lane was traveling eastbound on Murphys Grade Rd at a speed of approximately 30 MPH. As both parties entered a curved portion of the roadway, Ms. De Lima failed to properly negotiate the curve, traveling into the eastbound lane. Subsequently Her Audi collided head on with Mr. Lane's Dodge. Both driver's were transported by air ambulance to Doctor's Hospital in Modesto.

Murphys, CA...March 18, 2017 – Murphys Irish Day – Join us from 10am-5pm on Murphys Historic Main Street for a celebration of our Irish Heritage. Get here early for the parade and stay to shop the vendors lining Main Street, enjoy live entertainment throughout the day, sip a glass of beer or wine and wander the shops, tasting rooms and other businesses. Park at beautiful Ironstone Vineyards to admire the daffodils (there’s a daffodil show going on this weekend) and ride the free shuttle into town. The wine was styled in a big, bold way like nobody else could do. That's what makes us Black Sheep; we're different from the rest of the flock. We feature small batches of limited release wines handcrafted from high quality grapes grown in Calaveras and Amador Counties.
