Murphys, CA...Murphys resident Robert Gill Jr. died August 5 at home. He was 87. Mr. Gill was born in Palms, CA., to Robert Gill Sr. and Elsie Chalmers, both originally of Aberdeen, Scotland. He was raised in Palms and Venice, CA. He served in the U.S. Army in Central Europe as a Communications Chief during World War II. After he was honorably discharged in 1946, he worked as a Service Mechanic for the Southern California Gas Company for 35 years, before retiring and moving his family to Murphys...

Just A Reminder...Donations Can Be Made at Eldorado Savings for Injured Firefighter |

Murphys, CA....A fundraiser was held over the weekend at Outback Steakhouse in Modesto for injured TCU Firefighter Nat Fyock. Fyock was injured in the early stages of the Penn Fire. In case you missed it you can give to the Nathan Fyock Donation Account at any branch of El Dorado Savings Bank. The CAL-FIRE TCU also has a permanent fund for donations the Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit. The Ken Onstad Benevolent Fund (KOBF) has been set up for just this reason, to help our Unit Family when in need. They can send their donations to the KOBF, c/o CAL FIRE, TCU, Attn: Debbie Nelson at 785 Mountain Ranch Road, San Andreas, CA 95249. They need to note Nate Fyock’s name in the Memo area of their check so we know their intent.

Modesto, CA...Saturday, August 4th, The Outback Steakhouse, will be hosting a special benefit luncheon to raise funds for injured firefighter Nathan Fyock and his family. Fyock was struck by a car while battling the Penn Fire in Murphy’s last week and suffered severe injuries....

Music starts at 6:30 pm, but get there early and stake your ground for these two cowboy entertainers...
