Community Job Fair Organized by Columbia College and Mother Lode Job Training

Columbia, CA...Columbia College will hold a Community Job Fair that is cosponsored with Mother Lode Job Training. The event will host 66 employers and will take place on Friday, April 5 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on the Columbia College campus in the Oak Pavilion. Job seekers are encouraged to bring their résumé, dress for success, and be ready to discuss their experience and skills with prospective employers at the event.
Mariposa, CA...Caltrans, the National Weather Service (NWS) and several other agencies and partners are teaming up to bring a proactive approach to weather forecasting and its impact on California’s transportation network. Caltrans District 10 (Stockton) and the NWS Hanford office in Central California are co-piloting the “Prepare Program” in Mariposa County. This program calls for pre-emptive closures of State Route 140 in the area of the Ferguson Fire burn scar when there is heavy rain forecasted over the course of multiple hours in this region. The program can be used in other areas of the state that are impacted by weather.
Sonora, CA...From the Tuolumne Sheriff's Office..."Yesterday morning, Sergeant Riley stopped a gray Pontiac sedan on Stockton Street in Sonora for tinted front windows and not having a front license plate. The driver 48-year-old Katie Heinze of Modesto, seemed to be very nervous. She was out of breath and her hands were very shaky. When asked if there was anything illegal in her vehicle, she told the Sergeant she had marijuana and a little bit of methamphetamine. During a search of her purse, over 17 grams of methamphetamine, drug packaging and drug paraphernalia were found.
Long Serving Sergeant Mark Kerzich Retires from Sheriff's Dept

Sonora, CA...From the Tuolumne Sheriff's Dept..."We say farewell to Sergeant Mark Kerzich, who began his career with the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office in 1996 as a Jail Deputy Sheriff. In 1997, Mark was promoted to Deputy Sheriff. He became a Range Safety Officer and Instructor in 1999, and was promoted to Corporal in 2002. In 2004, Mark joined the SWAT team, and was promoted to Sergeant in 2013. During his time with our agency, Mark has worn many hats ranging from Field Training Officer, Court Security, and the Deputy Sheriff Association President.
Columbia, CA...From the Tuolumne Sheriff's Dept..."A woman got quite the surprise Sunday morning when she opened the door to her truck and found a stranger asleep inside. Deputies responded to her home on Springfield Road in Columbia, and were taken to 26-year-old Cody Crosby who was found inside the truck. Deputies learned Crosby had also burglarized a nearby unoccupied home. The front door was ajar and the security screen had been pried open. The window on the back door was broken and several tools were placed outside of the home next to Crosby’s motorized bike. Crosby was also wearing a jacket he had taken from the home and had a plastic bag containing several pieces of jewelry.
Columbia, CA...From the Tuolumne Sheriff's Dept..."Yesterday morning, deputies spotted a Ford coupe with expired registration while patrolling the Quail Mine area of Columbia. The driver, 51-year-old Irving Gallego of Columbia is on probation and was found to be in possession of nearly 27 grams of methamphetamine. His passenger, 53-year-old Paul Saldana of Stockton had a glass pipe used to smoke methamphetamine.
Sonora, CA...From the Sonora Police Dept..."You can run...and run...and run...but you can't hide! After a 3 month game of hide and seek, Troy Loveday (35 of Sonora) was found hiding at his camp located in a field behind Lowe's. Loveday had run from Officers' three times in the past several months and disappeared each time into thick brush and trees. Loveday had four outstanding felony warrants for his arrest, and three more misdemeanor charges were requested against him for running from the police.
Arnold, CA...There are chain controls in place this morning on Hwy 4 from East of Cottage Springs on up. On Carson Pass Hwy 88 east of Cooks Station ou will have to engage the 4wd. On Sonora Pass Hwy 108 traction aids are needed east of Long Barn. Let's be careful out there...
