Stanislaus National Forest Plans Prescribed Burn on Summit Ranger District

Sonora, CA...The Stanislaus National Forest provides the following information about planned prescribed burns on the forest. General and Specific Location: Dry Meadow Underburn, Summit Ranger District. The prescribed fire is located approximately six miles northeast of Pinecrest along Forest Road 5N02, in the vicinity of Dry Meadow Fire Station, Township 5N, Range 17E, Sections 2,3,4,22,23,26,34,35. This project is a planned prescribed fire. Please do not report as a wildfire.

Live Fire Training Burn Scheduled for Groveland Area

Groveland, CA...The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) will be conducting live fire training. This training is designed to instruct fireline supervisors from around the State in proper techniques to plan and conduct complex firing operations during wildland fire suppression operations.

PG&E Conducting Helicopter Infrastructure Patrols in Tuolumne County This Week

Columbia, CA...This week, PG&E will be patrolling electric infrastructure via helicopter around Tuolumne County. Helicopters patrolling the power lines will be leaving out of the Columbia Airport and typically fly from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Electric employees will be in the helicopters, which will be flying low at an altitude of about 300 to 500 feet and following power lines, in order to inspect the equipment from the air. Flights are subject to change without notice.

Arnold, CA...The early season storm has temporarily closed Hwy 120 Tioga pass and Hwy 108 Sonora Pass. Hwy 4 Ebbetts Pass has controls in effect over the summit. Hwy 88 Carson Pass had controls in place until a few minutes ago but has just dropped requirements. Drive Safe & Carry Chains, Blankets, Water & Food to tide you over if you are stranded in the high country.

Arrest Made on Several Charges After Theft From Tractor Supply

Sonora, CA...From the Tuolumne Sheriff's Dept..."On Tuesday evening, deputies responded to Tractor Supply on Mono Way in Sonora for a reported theft. 36-year-old Mark Blodgett was seen stealing items from the business. When deputies arrived, they saw Blodgett walking into McDonalds which is located in the same parking lot of the store. Deputies approached Blodgett who was wanted on several warrants. Blodgett admitted to taking a pair of pants and a knife from the store.

Sonora, CA...From the Tuolumne Sheriff's Dept..."A four-month long investigation has resulted in the arrest of two people in connection with the death of Jeremy Allen. 41-year old Michael Pierce of Sonora and 39-year-old Cyrus Cole of Tuolumne are facing charges of involuntary manslaughter, concealing an accidental death, burglary, taking a vehicle without consent, and conspiracy. We are still searching for one additional suspect.
