Thief Sours Thanksgiving for The Candy Vault. Help Sonora PD Nab the Thief

Sonora, CA...From the Sonora Police Department..."At around 2:20 am on Tuesday, November 26th, a thief broke into the Candy Vault on Washington Street and stole several hundred dollars in cash and a Dell Inspiron laptop. Our officers arrived on scene after being alerted by the alarm company and found that the front door glass was smashed in.

66 Year old Spokane Washington Man Lost His Life in Hwy 49 Collision

Sonora, CA...On November 29th at approximately 8:15pm a 66-year-old man from Spokane, Washington, was driving alone in his 2019 Dodge Ram truck northbound on State Route 49, near Springfield Road at an unknown rate of speed. For unknown reasons, he allowed his vehicle to leave the roadway and collided into a guardrail. After the collision with the guardrail, the vehicle traveled back across State Route 49, where it eventually overturned on the west shoulder.

Tuolumne, Calaveras, Eastern Stanislaus and Eastern San Joaquin Counties Burn Permit Suspension Lifted

San Andreas, CA...Effective Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at 8:00 AM, the burn permit suspension in Tuolumne, Calaveras, Eastern Stanislaus and Eastern San Joaquin Counties will be lifted. CAL FIRE Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit Chief Josh White is formally cancelling the burn permit suspension and advises that those possessing current and valid agriculture and residential burn permits can now resume burning on permissible burn days. Agriculture burns must be inspected by CAL FIRE prior to burning until the end of peak fire season. Inspections may be required for burns other than agricultural burns as well.

It's Official, Ebbetts, Sonora & Monitor Passes Closed for Winter!

Stockton, CA...The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has closed State Route 4 over Ebbetts Pass, Route 89 over Monitor Pass and Route 108 over Sonora Pass for the 2019/2020 winter season as of Monday, December 2, 2019. The routes were last open to vehicle traffic on November 26, 2019. The recent storms and accumulation of snow, make the seasonal closure necessary for the safety of motorists and Caltrans crews. The weather conditions on the passes and subsequent road conditions are among the determining factors in the decision to make the seasonal closure.

Winter storm watches && forecasts for the West Slope & Mother Lode. Detailed forecast for West Slope Northern Sierra Nevada. Rest Of Today Heavy rain at lower elevations...and heavy rain and snow at higher elevations. Not as cool. Highs 30 to 42 higher elevations...41 to 47 lower elevations. No new snow accumulation lower elevations...except new snow accumulation of 1 to 7 inches higher elevations. Snow level 7000 feet. Prevailing south winds 5 to 15 mph with gusts to around 30 mph...except south 20 to 30 mph over ridges.

The 36th Annual Historic Sonora Christmas Parade

Sonora, CA...The 36th Annual Historic Sonora Christmas Parade will be this Friday, November 29th at 6:00 pm. This brightly lit night-time parade starts at the Historic Red Church and follows Washington Street to Restano Way. Historic Downtown Sonora will be transformed almost overnight with all the holiday decorations up and the wreaths downtown sparkling with lights, the Christmas tree is in place and the merchants are festively decorating their shops all getting ready for the Holidays and the Annual Christmas Parade.
