Jamestown, CA...A heavy duty tow truck is on expidite and on the way to move a big rig loaded with 80,000 lbs of asphalt that has broken down on Hwy 108 and Obyrnes Ferry Road. Please use caution and expect delays in the area....

Tuolumne County, CA...The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform one-way traffic control on State Route 108 (SR-108) from Kennedy Meadows to approximately one and half miles east of Kennedy Meadows. Work will begin on Monday, July 23, 2012, through Friday, July 27, 2012, from 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m....
Blasting to Take Place Near Construction Site at Hwy 108

Tuolumne County, CA....On Wednesday, July 25, 2012, Caltrans crews will be blasting near the construction site for the State Route 108 East Sonora Bypass Phase II Project. Blasting is scheduled to start at 4:00 p.m. and Caltrans anticipates being done around 5:00 p.m. Roads will not be closed for blasting and traffic should not be impacted.
Man Posing as Law Enforcement Pulls Over Woman

Cold Springs, CA...On Thursday July 12th, a female was driving on Hwy 108 near Cold Springs in Tuolumne County. At approx. 7:00 am, a male subject in a vehicle resembling a law enforcement patrol car stopped her. The subject, who was wearing a tan shirt and pants and posing as a law enforcement officer, approached her and stated she was driving erratically. The subject was wearing a law enforcement type duty belt but did not appear to have a handgun. The subject detained the female for an extended period of time before allowing her to leave. ....

Jamestown, CA...The CHP release is now in on the fatal accident we reported on last night. John C. Hyde, 50 of Jamestown sadly lost his life last evening when his 2000 Honda Motorcycle collided with a utility pole on Hwy 49 and Sims Road. Mr. Hyde was riding his motorcycle within the road closure approaching the intersection with Sims Road. As Mr. Hyde approached the traffic barricade, it appears he attempted to go around the left side of the barricade. The front tire and right front handlebar of the Honda hit the left side of the barricade. Mr. Hyde braked while veering off towards the west edge of the highway. Mr. Hyde struck a wood utility pole bordering the west side of the highway and was ejected...

Sonora Sees Alarming Increase in DUI Accidents and Arrests

Sonora, CA...The Sonora Police Department has noticed an alarming increase in driving under the influence accidents and arrests during the first six months of 2012. Between Jan and June 2011, the Sonora Police Department only had 27 arrests for DUI. This year, during the same time period the Department has had 60 arrests. There has also been a 19% increase in DUI related accidents....
