Arson Arrest Made in Connection with Calaveras County Fires

San Andreas, CA....CAL Fire Enforcement Officers from the Tuolumne/Calaveras Unit in cooperation with the Calaveras County District Attorney’s office have arrested a fourth suspect in connection with allegedly starting several fires in the Angels Camp area of Calaveras County. On Thursday, July 12, 2012, CAL FIRE Law Enforcement Officers arrested CodyJon Emanuel Anderson and charged him with two counts of arson, two counts of arson caused by the use of a device, manufacturing an incendiary device and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Anderson was booked into the Tuolumne County jail. Anderson resides in Angels Camp, CA and was arrested without incident in Columbia, CA....

Yosemite National Park, CA...Yosemite National Park is requesting help from visitors to protect newborn animals in the park. During the summer months, many baby birds, fawns, and other young wildlife can be found on the ground. They may appear to be in distress, but are not sick, injured, or abandoned. If moved from their location, the parents cannot care for their offspring and many of the young animals do not survive. If spotted on the ground, these animals should not be moved or handled...

Fire Update....Forward Progress Slowed on La Grange Fires...Over 900 Acres Charred...50% Contained

La Grange, CA...They are releasing some of the air resources so that is a great sign they have the end in sight for the fires near Lake Don Pedro. They are officially calling the fire now 50% contained. The 7 fire is now being estimated at 800 acres and the earlier La Grange is now reported at 103 acres. The 3 air tankers have been released and now it is just helicopter 404 working hot spots. The list of ground resources on these fires will be long at this time...

Blasting Resumes on Hwy 108 Bypass Construction Project

Sonora, CA...On Wednesday, July 11, 2012, Caltrans crews will be blasting near the construction site for the State Route 108 East Sonora Bypass Phase II Project. Blasting is scheduled to start at 4:00 p.m. and Caltrans anticipates being done around 5:00 p.m. Roads will not be closed for blasting and traffic should not be impacted....

San Francisco – Former California Department of Resources Secretary Huey Johnson joined with environmental leaders at San Francisco City Hall today to turn-in 15,800 petition signatures from San Francisco voters in order to qualify the Water Conservation and Yosemite Restoration Initiative for the November 2012 San Francisco ballot. The Department of Elections now has 30 days to review the signatures and verify that at least 9,702 of the signatures are from currently registered San Francisco voters....
