Columbia, CA..Columbia College invites the public to view and appreciate the artifacts in the William Walter collection on display in the Manzanita Building Rotunda; open 8am - 7pm, Monday to Friday through December 21, 2012. This collection of Native American artifacts was presented to the Columbia College Foundation in 1974 by Mr. William Walter. The items represent only a small portion of the materials collected by Mr. Walter during his lifetime....

23 Year Old Jamestown Man Andrew Carrier Dies in Vehicle vs Pedestrian Accident (Updated with Name)

Jamestown, CA...On October 27th at approximately 5:35pm a 23 year Andrew Carrier from Jamestown was walking on the east side of northbound Hwy 49, north of Main Street. A Jamestown couple driving their 1999 Chevy Malibu were driving on Hwy 49 at approximately 40-45 miles per hour. They suddenly saw the pedestrian and their was a sudden impact when the front of their car struck the Jamestown man. He was thrown from the vehicle and landed on the east shoulder of Hwy 49 north of Main Street. CPR was started on him by an off duty EMT. Paramedics arrived on scene and continued to provide medical treatment but he succumbed to his injuries...

Sonora, CA...At their October meeting the Tuolumne County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors reviewed all nominations submitted by the public for the annual Best of Tuolumne County Awards. Much discussion took place regarding each nomination and then a vote was held. “Voting is done by secret ballot and tallied after the meeting,” stated Chamber President & CEO George Segarini. “So many worthy candidates, but only one can be awarded.” Here are the winners of the voting...
