Sonora, CA...At their October meeting the Tuolumne County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors reviewed all nominations submitted by the public for the annual Best of Tuolumne County Awards. Much discussion took place regarding each nomination and then a vote was held. “Voting is done by secret ballot and tallied after the meeting,” stated Chamber President & CEO George Segarini. “So many worthy candidates, but only one can be awarded.” Here are the winners of the voting...

Mi Wuk Village, CA...The Crandall Underburn (Lyons Reservoir Units), Mi-Wok Ranger District project area is located approximately 0.25 to 0.5 miles west of Lyons Reservoir, along Forest Road 3N35 off Forest Road 4N02, at Township 3N, Range 16E, Sections 13, 23, 24. Ignition of the prescribed burn is expected to begin on or about November 1, 2012, with controlled burning to continue through the next several weeks. Burning is contingent on weather, fuel moisture, and air quality. All burning is monitored and conducted in accordance with state and county air quality guidelines, and closely coordinated with local county air quality control districts...

Sonora, CA..It was senior night for Sonora on Friday as one senior in particular had his biggest game of the season as the Wildcats rolled over the East Union Lancers 61-27. Senior fullback Brandon Camara ran for over 200 yards and scored 4 touchdowns all in the first half and played only a few second half downs as he and many of his teammates enjoyed some rest as the bench players played a big role in the second half of the game, with one or two seeing second quarter action as well....

Jamestown, CA...We just confirmed with CHP that there was another tragic vehicle vs pedestrian accident here locally. Last evening on Hwy 108 near the Subway in Jamestown. The CHP release should be available tomorrow as they are still investigating and notifying family members...

Traffic Update...Sadly, Another Local Traffic Accident Fatality (Vehicle vs Jogger Fatality)

Sonora, CA...Emergency crews are working a fatal accident that occurred on Mt. Brow Road and Jamestown Road. The accident came in shortly after 6:30am this morning. Please use caution in the area and expect delays.... Update: This is a vehicle vs pedestrian accident. There is also a non-injury accident on hwy 26 and Hwy 12 and a possible injury accident on Hwy 120 in the Buck Meadows area. Lets be careful out there everyone!!!

27 Year Old Sonora Woman Loses Life After Being Struck By Vehicle

Sonora, CA...Amy Wayne, 27 from Sonora tragically perished this morning when she was struck while jogging. A 22 year old Jamestown woman was driving northbound on Jamestown Road at approximately 40 miles per hour. She looked away from the road momentarily with fatal results. When she looked up she saw a light if front of her. There was a sudden impact when her 1999 Toyota struck Amy. She then veered to the right onto the east shoulder. The jogger was thrown by the vehicle and landed on the roadway at the intersection of Shaws Flat Road and Joamestown Road. CPR was started by a neighbor in the area. Paramedics arrived and continued CPR but Ms. Wayne succumbed to her injuries. The investigation into the circumstances of the collision are ongoing...
