Traffic Update...Accidents on Hwy 4 & 108

Dorrington, CA...CHP is working a solo vehicle Jeep accident where the Jeep is blocking a lane on Hwy 4 in the Dorrington area. In Sonora there is an overturned vehicle on Hwy 108 and Standard Road and another incident on Tuolumne Road and Mono Way. Lets be careful our there on this slick and cold day.

Senator Berryhill issues statement on Governor Brown’s Budget Proposal

Sacramento – Senator Tom Berryhill (R-Modesto) issued the following statement today on the Governor’s 2013-2014 Budget: “California isn’t out of the woods yet so I am glad to hear the Governor is committed to keeping a tight leash on spending. At a glance I like the concept of eliminating education categoricals and sending money directly to classrooms but as we all know, the devil is in the details. Central Valley communities have been particularly hard hit by prisoner realignment so I remain concerned about how he plans on addressing that in the budget.”

Black Oak Casino Resort Chosen to Host National Finals for the Karaoke World Championships USA

Tuolumne, CA...The country’s largest and most prestigious karaoke competition will be held at Black Oak Casino Resort later this year. The Casino has been chosen to host the National Championships for the Karaoke World Championships USA (KWCUSA) on October 3-5, 2013. The Karaoke World Championships USA is the only nationwide event sanctioned by the International Karaoke Authority located in Lahti, Finland. Black Oak will also host the Northern California State Championships and will be a local qualifying venue as well....

Sonora, CA...The Motherlode Martin Luther King Jr. Committee is sponsoring the visit to Sonora by Father Roy Bourgeois, a Catholic Maryknoll missionary priest active in social justice issues. Bourgeois, who was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, will be the keynote speaker at 2pm, January 20th at the Sonora High School Auditorium during the 18th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday celebration. The free celebration and reception will also include music and student awards. ....

Lots of Activity and Arrests at Rosalinda's

Jamestown, CA...On Friday afternoon the Sheriff’s Office received information from Modesto P. D. regarding a wanted felon known to carry firearms and body armor (name withheld) in a room at Rosalinda’s Gentlemen’s Club. The club was put under surveillance until Swat teams could form a perimeter. Continual announcements to surrender were given over a loud speaker for several hours without results. Tear gas was used multiple times in the room where the suspect was thought to be, also without results. A robot with a camera was put into the room but did not locate the suspect. An entry team was sent in and determined the suspect was no longer in the area....

Arnold, CA...Caltrans has traction control requirements on Hwy 88 from 7 miles east of Pine Grove on up. On Hwy 4 controls are in place from Arnold on up and on Hwy 88. On Hwy 108 from 5 miles west of Long Barn. Full details are enclosed...
