Two Tuolumne Residents Lose Lives in Early Sunday Morning Head On Collision

Jamestown, CA...At 6:56am on Sunday Jason Reavis, 34 and Evonne Bravo, 29 lost their lives in a multiple vehicle accident on Hwy 108/120 near Keystone Ranch. A 34 year old Manteca man was driving a Chevrolet Silverado pickup eastbound on State Route 120 at approximately 55 miles per hour. Jason Reavis was driving his Chevrolet Cavalier Westbound on State Route 120 at an unknown speed. Traffic Advisory on Hwy 108 from Standard Road/Mono Way to Draper Mine Road

Tuolumne County – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform one-way traffic control on State Route 108 (SR-108) from Standard Road/Mono Way to Draper Mine Road for construction activities. Crews will begin work on Sunday, October 6, 2013, through Friday, October 11, 2013, from 7:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Motorists should expect 20 minute delays.

USFS Shrinks Rim Fire Forest Closure Area

Sonora, CA...On August 1'?, 2013, the Rim Fire started along Jawbone Ridge on the Groveland Ranger District near the confluence ofthe Clavey River and Tuolumne Wild and Scenic River in Tuolumne County. Currently, crews and ñrefìghters are working an active in which ñre behavior is unpredictable and dangerous to the public. Tree snags and burning vegetation in the tire arca present unsafe conditions for public use. Crews and equipment will be using the roads and trails in the closure area causing congestion of these areas and a hazardous condition. As a result, I have decided to close public access tothe Rim Fire arca. The closure is based on current and expected fire behavior and the area of predicted fire spread. The closure is also based on current ñre area rehabilitation needs. This order will be in effect until September 26, 2014 or until replaced or rescinded. Major Injuries in Stockton Road Motorcycle Accident

Sonora, CA.... 26 September 2013, at approx. 5:47 pm, emergency personnel responded to the area of Stockton Road and Ponderosa Way, for a reported vehicle vs. motorcycle accident with injuries. During the investigation it was determined that Michael Cowley, 51 of Sonora, was westbound on Stockton Road, on his Honda XR650 motorcycle, when Katherine Allen, 42 of Sonora, pulled out from a private driveway in front of Cowley, in her Chevy Suburban.

Tuttletown, CA...A 54 year old Placerville man was traveling northbound on State Route 49 just south of Wilcox Ranch Road in his vehicle, a 1994 GMC pickup towing a small utility trailer, Due to his level of intoxication he allowed his vehicle to travel off the east roadway edge of State Route 49. He attempted to bring the Vehicle back onto the roadway when thc trailer became Separated from the truck and collided with a tree. His vehicle continued back across State Route 49 off the west roadway odge, Tho front of his vehicle collided with an oak tree and came to rest just off the west edge of State Route 49.

Be Prepared for Post Rim Fire Rain Storms

Sonora, CA...The Rim Fire started on August 17 and burned in steep, rugged canyons on the Stanislaus National Forest and the Yosemite National Park. The wildfire increased the potential for increased flooding, mud and debris flows that could impact ranches, structures, roads, and other infrastructure within, adjacent to, and downstream from the burned area. Winter in the Sierra Nevada region can bring heavy rain storms and residents and visitors should remain alert to possible flooding when travelling along roads downstream from the burned area of the Rim Fire.
