Sheriff's Office Investigating Parental Abduction. Could Possibly Visit Tuolumne |

Minden, NV...Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a parental abduction of two children, missing since November 21, 2013. According to reports, Kathryn Ann Moore (44 years old from Wellington, NV) was scheduled to appear in District Court for the scheduled child exchange of 5 year old Patricia Brite Read and 2 year old William Jesse Moore, to their father Richard Read (Gardnerville, NV), who has joint custody of the children. Kathryn did not appear in court for this exchange. Attempts to contact Kathryn have been unsuccessful and a recent visit to her home has indicated that she has left with the children.

Stockton, CA...There are several road operations that will affect traffic in our coverage area. In Calaveras starting on December 18 on Hwy 4, Begin:Horseshoe Drive (Right) End: Tipton House RoadRestriction: One-way traffic control Reason: Crack Seal Operation. In Tuolumne County starting on December 16th on Hwy 49. "Begin: Cemetery Road End: Fifth Avenue Restriction: Right shoulder, Reason: Shoulder Work". "Begin: Solinski Street, End: Ponderosa Drive, Restriction: #1 of 2 lanes, right shoulder, Reason: Utility Work". On Hwy 120 staring on the 16th. "Begin: Jacksonville Road, End: State Route 49, Restriction: Right shoulder, Reason: Utility Work". "Begin: Yosemite Lakes Drive, End: Cherry Valley Road/Sweetwater Road, Restriction: One-way traffic control, Reason: Crack Seal Operation". "Begin: South Fork Tuolumne River, End: Yosemite Lakes Drive. Restriction: One-way traffic control, Reason: Crack Seal Operation". In Amador on Hwy 88 starting on the 16th. "Begin: Bamert, Road (Left), End: Jackson Valley Road, Restriction: One-way traffic control, Reason: Bridge Work". "Begin: Past Mud Spring Sand House/Cat Creek Road, End: Amador/Alpine County Line, Restriction: Intermittent #1 of 2 lanes, Reason: Maintenance Operation". Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit Moves to Open Burning |

San Andreas, CA...On Monday, December 9, 2013, at 8:00 AM, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) moved into open burning. Burning will be permitted 24 hours a day on “Permissive Burn Days” as established by the Air Pollution Control District (APCD) in each county. CAL FIRE burn permits will not be required until May 1, 2014 (or earlier if conditions require). Landowners may be held liable if their fire escapes their control. Remain in attendance of your fire, keep a water supply close to the burning site and do not burn when windy, or when high winds are predicted. In Calaveras County, burning on property five acres or more in size requires a permit from the Calaveras APCD. In Tuolumne County clearing two acres or more of vegetation requires a permit from the Tuolumne APCD....

Tuolumne County Sheriff's Office Reports Credit Card Scam |

Sonora, CA...The Sheriff’s Department has received several reports over the past few days of a phone scam. People are receiving calls from a person who claims they are from a credit card company and explains that their card has been “deactivated”. The caller then asks for their card number so the card can be reactivated. This is a scam the credit card companies or Banks would never call and ask for a card number...

Parole Follow Up Leads to Arrest and Multiple Felony Charges |

Big Oak Flat, CA...On Monday 12/2/13 Tuolumne County Deputies and a State Parole Agent conducted a parole search at Shawn Hipol’s residence in Big Oak Flat. Hipol is on active parole and the search was authorized by his Parole Officer. Hipol was not at home but a search of the residence was completed. A rifle and “sawed off shotgun” were found in Hipol’s residence. A “be on the lookout” for Hipol was broadcast to Tuolumne County Deputies via our dispatch center. Deputies spotted Hipol riding in the passenger seat of a vehicle near WalMart in the City of Sonora. A traffic stop was initiated and Hipol was taken into custody. Hipol was searched pursuant to his arrest a small amount of methamphetamine, concentrated cannibus, marijuana, a smoking pipe and three hypodermic needles were found on his person. A handgun was located under a shirt on the passenger side of the vehicle...

Rim Fire Recovery Project Announced |

Sonora, CA…Stanislaus Forest Supervisor Susan Skalski announced the second phase of the Rim Fire recovery, Notice of Intent to prepare an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) that will appear in the Federal Register December 6. The proposed action will include:
· Salvage of dead trees and fuel reduction (29,648 aces).
· Removal of hazard trees, salvage of dead trees and fuel reduction along Level 2 roads (369 miles).
· Road reconstruction (327 miles) and road maintenance (164 miles) to ensure proper function to protect streams.
· New road construction (approximately six miles) to allow for salvage removal and long-term access for future recovery activities.
· Temporary road construction (22 miles) that will be decommissioned following completion of project activities.
· Rock quarry sites (75 sites) to accommodate road needs.
· Water sources (95 locations) for road reconstruction and maintenance as well as long-term resource needs. |

Governor Brown Appoints Kate P. Segerstrom to Tuolumne County Superior Court |

Sacramento, CA...Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the appointment of Kate P. Segerstrom to a judgeship in the Tuolumne County Superior Court. Segerstrom, 58, of Sonora, has been an attorney in solo private practice since 2000. She held multiple positions at Steinheimer Riggio Haydel Mordaunt and Kelly from 1984 to 2000, including shareholder, associate and law clerk. Segerstrom earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law and a Bachelor of Science degree from Stanford University... |
