Sonora Police Department Investigating Armed Robbery At Koto's

Sonora, CA... 15 February 2015, at approx. 1:30 am, the Sonora Police Department responded to the Koto House, located at 70 Stockton Road, for a reported armed robbery. When Officers arrived they made contact with the owner. The owner related the business had closed for the night. While inside the office, he was approached by a male suspect. Sheriff Deptment K-9 Helps Apprehend Subject

Jamestown, CA...On 2/12/15 about 3:50 P.M. Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Deputies saw a vehicle driven by a female, later identified as 27 year old, Stephanie Foster on Circle Drive in Jamestown, CA. The passenger in the vehicle was 26 year old Andrew Buzinskis. The Deputies had prior knowledge that Buzinskis had two active Felony Arrest Warrants for narcotics violations and was suspected to be armed with a handgun. Deputies attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the vehicle and Foster fled and attempted to evade the Deputies. A pursuit lasted approx.. 3/10 of a mile at which time Foster yielded on Golf Links Road. Buzinskis exited the vehicle and fled on foot. The Sheriff’s Department K9 (Justice) was deployed and the K9 entered the vehicle and bit Foster on the arm....

Rare Sierra Nevada Red Fox Spotted in Yosemite National Park

Yosemite National Park, CA...Yosemite National Park is excited to report the first confirmed sighting in the park of a rare Sierra Nevada red fox (Vulpes vulpes necator) in nearly 100 years. Park wildlife biologists had gone on a five-day backcountry trip to the far northern part of the park to check on previously deployed motion-sensitive cameras. They documented a sighting of the fox on two separate instances (December 13, 2014 and January 4, 2015) within the park boundary. The Sierra Nevada red fox of California is one of the rarest mammals in North America, likely consisting of fewer than 50 individuals....

Sonora, Calif., (January 26, 2015)… The Stanislaus National Forest, in partnership with 3 Forests Interpretive Association, would like to announce the opening of the application process for the 2015 Artist in the Woods program from February 1 - April 15. Professional artists can apply for a two week residence in a historic cabin on the Summit Ranger District during the fall of 2015. A variety of art mediums are acceptable. With the goal of creating a sense of stewardship for the beauty of the natural and cultural resources of the Stanislaus National Forest, the Artist in the Woods Program provides professional artists of all media an opportunity to receive creative inspiration from the Sierra Nevada landscape, while pursuing their artistic discipline...
