11th Annual Black Oak Casino Resort Community Grab for Cash Nets Area Non-Profits over $23,000 |

Tuolumne, CA....The 2013 11th Annual Grab for Cash enriched ten deserving local non-profit groups with over $23,000 this year. Ten groups were selected from almost 60 non-profit entries this year representing many diverse areas of community support programs. “The Community Grab for Cash at Black Oak Casino is our way of kicking off the holiday season by giving back to the community,” said Ron Patel, General Manager of Black Oak Casino Resort. “It’s a fun opportunity for our local non-profit organizations to get some much needed financial support.”...

Sonora, Calif., (November 15, 2013) Marie Malo, a natural resource interpretive specialist on the Stanislaus National Forest, recently received the Forest Service 2013 Pacific Southwest Region Gifford Pinchot Award and the National Gifford Pinchot Award for her “Excellence in Interpretation and Conservation Education.”

Power Outages Increasing Tonight in Calaveras, Amador & Tuolumne Counties |

Arnold, CA....With the increasing winds there has been a few power outages reported. These include 263 PG&E Customers in the Murphys area and 81 in the Cedar Ridge area. There are also several scattered outages including wires down in the Paloma area on Hwy 26 affecting 99 customers. In Amador County 683 customers are in the dark in the Pioneer Area..

Extreme Registration, or X-Reg, will be held at the main Sonora campus on Wednesday, December 4 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Columbia, CA...It is with great enthusiasm and vision that a group of passionate theater professionals launches a new theatre company in the Sierra Foothills -- Footlight Theatre Co. based in Columbia. Artistic Director Anthony De Page, Executive Director Kendra Burlison and Administrative Director Diane Brown have formed a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization with a mission to provide superior quality theatrical productions showcasing local talent while enhancing and stimulating cultural and artistic enrichment in the Mother Lode region. Founding board members include President Steve Kwasnicki, Vice President Megan Collier, Treasurer Doreen Kwasnicki, Secretary Tiffany Howard and board member Robert Meyer.

Burson, CA...This morning at 8:30am there was a minor injury accident on Hwy 12 east of Evans Road. A Toyota pickup was being driven eastbound by a Mokelumne Hill man at approximately 50 mph. A Ford Focus was being driven westbound at 55mph by a Twain Harte man. For an unknown reason the driver of the Toyota allowed his vehicle to cross the yellow lines and into the path of the westbound Ford...

ARB To Consider "Good Faith Efforts" For Diesel Fleet Operators |

San Andreas, CA...On October 8, 2013, the Calaveras County Air Pollution Control Board sent a letter to Governor Brown addressing their concerns associated with the unintended economic consequences associated with the Air Resources Board (ARB) Truck and Bus On-Road In-Use Regulation. The Board outlined several options for ARB consideration in providing short term relief to rural areas. On October 17, 2013, the Mountain Counties Air Basin Control Council representing the Northern Sierra Air Quality Management District and Placer, El Dorado, Amador, Calaveras, Tuolumne and Mariposa Air Pollution Control Districts, sent a letter to ARB requesting similar relief. As a result of these requests, in addition to requests from other Districts in California, ARB is considering providing some relief from the regulation. The ARB press release is as follows:
