Fullerton Man May Have Drowned In Lake Don Pedro

La Grange, CA...On 7/4/15 about 1143 A.M. the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a boater on Lake Don Pedro near Fleming Meadows reporting a member of their party vacationing on Lake Don Pedro had been swimming near the boat. The 26 year old male from Fullerton, CA. went under water and had failed to resurface. Lake Don Pedro Rangers as well as personnel from the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office Boating Enforcement Unit responded to the scene and attempted to locate the subject. Initial attempts to locate the subject were unsuccessful.

Yosemite Institutes Fire Restrictions

Yosemite, CA...Yosemite National Park is experiencing very high fire danger along with continued hot and dry weather patterns. Due to current and predicted fire conditions and possible active fire behavior, the park implemented Stage 1 Fire Restrictions until further notice. Public comment on the proposed action is encouraged. To assure your comments are fully considered during the scoping phase of the project, please submit comments by August 10, 2015.

Considering the Alternatives For Rim Fire Reforestation

Sonora, California, June 16, 2015 – The Stanislaus National Forest will be hosting a workshop on July 8th to review potential alternatives for the reforestation project, within the Rim Fire area. “Sixty-five comments were received during our 45-day scoping period which ended on April 13th,” said Jeanne Higgins, Forest Supervisor, Stanislaus National Forest. “Now our goal is to provide the community an opportunity to review the draft alternatives that were developed to address the concerns that were raised. These alternatives will be analyzed in the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS), which is expected to be available for review in the fall.”

Tuolumne County Economic Development Authority (TCEDA) Selects Summer Interns

Sonora, CA...The Tuolumne County Economic Development Authority (TCEDA) has selected three student interns to be employed during the summer months. The three interns selected for the summer internship are Logan Ainger, Bethany Wilkinson and Bethany Smith. All three interns are from Tuolumne County and are attending universities from outside of Tuolumne County. They have returned home during their summer breaks from the University of California, Berkeley, University of California, Santa Cruz and California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, CA. The interns will work at both TCEDA’s main office at 99 N. Washington Street in downtown Sonora and the InnovationLab at 101 Hospital Rd. in Sonora. They will work to expand on their skills learned at university while at the same time providing training and assistance to InnovationLab members/partners.

Yosemite, CA...Active Fires being monitored for multiple objectives: The current fires were started during the recent thunderstorms over the Sierra Nevada Mountains and Yosemite since early June. Precipitation associated with the recent lightning caused fires has put some out. The national weather service is predicting continued thunderstorm activity through the weekend at the Sierra Crest. All the fires are being monitored by Yosemite National Park firefighters.

59 Year Old Stabs 50 Year Old In Argument Over A Woman

Jamestown, CA... On 6/9/15 about 5:48 P.M. Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were dispatched to the Twin Pines Mobile Home Park on WigWam Road in Jamestown CA on a report of a stabbing. Arriving Deputies met with the 50 year old male victim. The victim was bleeding from a stab wound to the leg. The suspect had fled the area prior to the arrival of the Deputies.

Positive Identification of Deceased Male Daniel Mulligan

Jamestown, CA... On 6/1/15 Daniel Mulligan was reported missing to the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office. On 6/2/15 a deceased male was located near the Red Hills Recreation Area below Jamestown, CA. by searchers involved in the incident. Mulligans car was also located near the area.
