Oregon Man Loses Life In Kayak Accident On Cherry Creek ~ Tuolumne Sheriff's Office

Groveland, CA...Yesterday morning just before 11:30 AM, the Tuolumne County Sheriff's Office received a call for help regarding a possible drowning. A 35 year old man along with a group of friends, hiked to the Cherry Bomb Gorge on Cherry Creek in the Groveland area. The group started down the rapids on their kayaks when one overturned in the water. When he emerged from the rapids unconscious, his friends pulled him out of the water and began CPR. A nearby kayaker used a satellite phone to call for help.

U.S. Forest Service Enacts Temporary Fire Restrictions In High Hazard Areas

Sonora, Calif. June 30, 2016…Due to high fire danger, temporary fire restrictions are in effect in High Hazard Areas on the Stanislaus National Forest (STF) July 1 through the end of the official 2016 fire season. Forest Order 16-2016-3 prohibits campfires, briquette barbecues and smoking outside developed campgrounds, as well as welding and blasting activities in designated High Hazard Areas of the forest – fireworks are not allowed on the forest at any time.

Sonora, CA...23 June 2016, at approximately 11:35 pm, Officers from the Sonora Police Department, assisted by Officers from the California Highway Patrol, responded to a disturbance on the 100 block of Columbia Way. When Officers arrived, two subjects determined to be involved in the disturbance, were located hiding in some bushes. A backpack was also located on the ground next to both subjects. Both subjects initially denied ownership of the backpack and its contents.
