Resisting Arrest, Criminal Threats and Domestic Violence Arrest in Sonora

Sonora, CA...On 12-19-2017, at about 8:30 P.M., Sonora Police Dispatch received a call of a male subject who was bleeding from his stomach in the area of the AMPM (15 Pesce Way). Officers responded to the area and located the subject, identified as Adam Gregory Overstreet, 39 years old of Jamestown. Officers observed Overstreet was covered in blood, but was refusing to comply with lawful commands. Overstreet was detained in handcuffs and then forcibly began to resist officers. Officers were finally able to gain control of Overstreet. Once officers gained physical control of Overstreet, he made death threats towards arresting officers. One officer sustained minor injuries as a result of the struggle with Overstreet.

Felony Vandalism Arrest In Sonora

Sonora, CA...On December 13, 2017, just before 3:30 P.M., Sonora Police Department received a call regarding a male subject who had just intentionally broken a window to the Community Thrift Shop, located at 797 W. Stockton Street, Sonora. The suspect who was known to the reporting party was identified as Carlos Rene Canez, 28 years old of Sonora. Officers, who were familiar with Canez responded to the area and located Canez walking along W. Stockton Street. One Officer detained Canez while another Officer responded to the Community Thrift Shop. An employee of the Community Thrift Shop identified Canez by name as the person who broke the window. An Officer transported the employee to the location where Canez was being detained and positively identified Canez as the suspect.

Jamestown, CA...From Sonora CHP..."We are looking for your help in finding a vehicle involved in a hit and run collision last night,12/14/2017 at 530 pm on SR-120 just east of O’Byrnes Ferry Road. The vehicle made a U-turn in front of a motorcyclist who could not react in time to avoid a collision. The Pickup completed the U-turn, onto the south shoulder and then fled the scene on SR-120 eastbound.

Sonora Man Arrested for Elder Abuse and More Wednesday Night

Sonora, CA...Tuolumne Deputies responded to Sparrow Lane in Sonora Wednesday night to investigate a reported assault. The elderly victim was assaulted by 31-year-old Carl Greenway and suffered minor injuries which did not require medical attention. After the assault Greenway took the victim’s cell phone to prevent them from calling authorities for help.

Oops...Misplaced Debit Card Ends in Arrest for Sonora Man

Sonora, CA...Early this morning, just after 3:00 a.m., 27-year-old Brian Troxell of Sonora called 911 to report leaving his debit card inside of a local bar on Washington Street. Officers responded and found an obviously intoxicated Troxell pounding on the door to the closed business. Officers tried to convince Troxel to go home and to deal with the matter when the business opened, but Troxell ignored their advice and continued to argue. Troxell was placed under arrest for public intoxication and the officers subsequently located the missing debit card in Troxell's back pocket.

Mi-Wok Ranger District Front Desk on Stanislaus National Forest Closes Dec. 18

Sonora, CA...The front desk at the Mi-Wok Ranger District office will close indefinitely beginning Dec. 18. The office had been open on Fridays since June. Forest Supervisor Jason Kuiken made the decision to close due to limited staff and the fact that Mi-Wok receives the fewest visitors during the winter season.
