Yosemite National Park Identifies Remains of Missing Sailor Alexander Sevier

Yosemite, CA...Yosemite National Park Rangers have positively identified the remains of Alexander Joseph Sevier, a visitor who was last seen in Yosemite Valley on May 3, 2017. Sevier, a member of the U.S. Navy was staying in Housekeeping Camp and was witnessed going out on day hikes each day during his visit. When he was reported missing, Park Rangers, with the aid of search dogs and a CHP helicopter, launched an extensive search looking for him. The search has been ongoing.

Railtown 1897 to Honor Military Veterans with Complimentary Train Rides and Park Admission on Veterans Day

Jamestown, CA...To honor their service and celebrate the patriotic holiday, California State Parks, Railtown 1897 State Historic Park (SHP) and the California State Railroad Museum Foundation are proud to offer veterans and active military personnel with complimentary excursion train rides plus complimentary Park admission on Saturday, November 11, 2017. Veteran and active military personnel are encouraged to wear their uniforms with pride while enjoying a special excursion train ride behind diesel locomotive No. 1265, a 1952 former Army diesel which last served at the Riverbank Army Ammunition Plant. The special diesel locomotive will be operated by a number of crew members who are also military veterans. Excursion train rides are available at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on this special day, delighting visitors from near and far during a six-mile, 45-minute round trip ride along the rails of the famous “Movie Railroad” while passing through California’s scenic Gold Country. All train ride tickets on Veterans Day are first-come, first-served.

Winter Weather Advisory from 11pm Tonight till 11am Friday. 3-6 Inches of Snow in High Country

Sacramento, CA...A cool weather system will bring early season snow to the Northern Sierra this evening through Friday morning. Snow levels are expected to begin high Thursday evening then drop rapidly to around 5000 to 5500 feet by Friday morning. There could be 3 to 6 inches of snow along Interstate 80 above 6500 feet...impacting areas near Donner pass. Motorists traveling over mountain passes should be prepared for slick roads. Winds gusting to 65 mph over mountain ridges could cause problems for high profile vehicles and when combined with snow could bring poor visibility.

Caltrans to Host a Public Meeting about Potential Safety and Mobility Project in Groveland

Groveland, CA...The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is hosting a public meeting to discuss a potential project that would improve safety and efficiency for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians in the town of Groveland. This project, which would stretch 1.2 miles along State Route 120 from Ponderosa Lane to the Tenaya Elementary School, would widen existing pavement to allow the installment of bike lanes and new sidewalks, new crosswalks and curb ramps.The effort would also improve and close gaps for pedestrian pathways within the project limits.

Collision on Hwy 132 Takes Life of Sarah Nicole Cahoon, 28 from Coulterville

Coulterville, CA...On October 17, 2017, at approximately 6:18 pm, 28 year old Coulterville resident, Sarah Cahoon, was driving a 2002 Mazda MPV, eastbound on State Route 132, west of Piney Creek Road, at an unknown speed. Cahoon allowed her vehicle to travel over the right shoulder and up an embankment south of the road edge. Cahoon's vehicle then overturned multiple times back onto the roadway. Cahoon was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. The vehicle then rolled over Cahoon before it came to rest back on its wheels. Cahoon was pronounced deceased at the scene of the collision. 5 year old passenger, Michael Boesen, was also not wearing a seat belt and was thrown approximately 50 feet from the vehicle. Boesen was flown to UC Davis to be treated for major injuries. 9 year old passenger, Jasmin Povio, was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision and only sustained minor injuries.

Dearborn, MI...Ford Motor Company is issuing a safety recall in North America. Details are as follows: Certain 2015-17 Ford F-150 and 2017 Ford Super Duty vehicles. Ford Motor Company is issuing a safety recall for approximately 1.3 million 2015-17 F-150 and 2017 Super Duty vehicles in North America to add a water shield to side door latches. In affected vehicles, a frozen door latch or a bent or kinked actuation cable may result in a door that will not open or will not close condition. Should a customer be able to open and close the door with these conditions, the door may appear closed, but the latch may not fully engage the door striker with the potential that the door could open while driving, increasing the risk of injury.

It was once again a great success and all proceeds go to the Tuolumne County Sheriff's Search and Rescue Team. The team is made up of volunteers who have a calling to help those in need. The volunteers put in many hours of their time and are highly trained.

Major Injuries to Twain Harte Man in Hwy 108 Collision

Twain Harte, CA...On October 16, 2017, at approximately 1545 hours, P1 was traveling eastbound on State Route 108, east of Argyle Road at approximately 55 miles per hour. For an unknown reason, P1 allowed V1 to travel off the south roadway edge of State Route 108. As a result, the front of V1 collided into a tree. After the collision with the tree, V1 continued in a south easterly direction until it collided into a large boulder. After the collision with the boulder, V1 continued in a south easterly direction when it collided into a second tree. After the collision with the second tree, V1 rotated in a counter clockwise direction until it came to rest against a third tree.
