Sonora, CA...The Columbia College Fire Academy is pleased to announce that 24 students have earned graduation and Certificates of Completion from the Fire Technology Program. Students who completed Firefighter 1 and 2 were awarded their certificates on May 2, 2024 at Columbia College in Oak Pavilion.

California Gold Rush History Comes to Life at Columbia State Historic Park

Columbia, CA...Columbia State Historic Park and Friends of Columbia invite the public on May 16-19 to explore “Diggins Tent Town 1852,” a recreation of an 1850s mining camp. At this annual living history event, visitors have the opportunity to experience the Gold Rush come to life. Over 150 costumed volunteers will help to recreate life in the Gold Rush era in detail, including clothing, food and entertainment.
Dynamite and Other Explosives Located at a Home in Strawberry Successfully Disposed of and Removed from Home

Strawberry, CA...TCSO deputies with the assistance of CCSO Bomb Squad, the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office (SJCSO) Bomb Squad, Tuolumne County Fire Department and the United States Forest Service, successfully disposed of the unstable explosives by detonation, causing approximately 10 loud explosions in the Strawberry area.
Explosives located at the home which were determined to be stable were safely transported by the Bomb Squads for disposal.

F150 Lightning Rolls Over & Kills Driver Near Hwy 120 & Old Priest Grade

Groveland, CA...On April 25, 2024, at approximately 8:40am, a 68-year-old male from Groveland was stopped in a 2023 Ford F150 Lightning pickup truck at the stop sign for the Old Priest Grade and State Route 120, near Moccasin. The driver partially exited the vehicle while it was still in Drive and it began to roll forward. As a result, the driver was run over by the vehicle. The vehicle continued rolling forward, traveling off the road.
