Storm activity is expected to impact Yosemite National Park and the surrounding area on Friday, April 6 through Sunday, April 8, 2018. Park roadways, campgrounds, and other facilities may be impacted.

Hop on the e-Bus in Jackson or Sonora to get Your Taxes Done for Free

Sonora & Jackson, CA...Need help filing your federal and state income taxes?
The e-Bus will be in Jackson on April 9-10 and in Sonora on April 11-12 providing free tax prep to those earning $54,000 or less, the Amador Tuolumne Community Action Agency announced. The bus will be staffed with IRS-certified Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) preparers, who will complete returns and check to see if taxpayers qualify for the expanded, cash-back California Earned Income Tax Credit, or CalEITC.

Toulumne County Biomass Utilization Feasibility Meeting April 18

Sonora, CA...The Sierra Nevada Conservancy (SNC) and the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) will be hosting a public meeting to present the proposed process and approach for a Toulumne County Biomass Utilization Feasibility Study and to receive public input on suggested study plans. The meeting will be held at Stanislaus National Forest Headquarters, 19777 Greenley Road, Sonora, CA 95370 on Wednesday, April 18 at 5:00 PM, and will be facilitated by The Beck Group, the consultant who will be completing the Study on SNC and HCD’s behalf.

Sonora, CA...From the Sonora Police Dept....On Saturday night, at around 11:00 p.m., Officer Durham was dispatched to a vehicle theft at Lowes. Upon arrival, he contacted the victim, who informed him Leif Husman took her car from the Lowes parking lot without her permission. The victim stated that she was with her boyfriend and his friend Leif Husman when she parked in the Lowes parking lot so she and her boyfriend could walk down to his camp behind Lowes and get a part to help his friend fix his RV. When returning to the parking lot her car was gone.

Pinecrest, CA...Like swallows returning to Capistrano and the opening day of baseball, the Caltrans Long Barn crew is planning to start the clearing of the Sonora Pass- the annual ritual that is the harbinger of springtime in the Sierra! Long Barn Supe, Chris Baker reports that we have all equipment moved up as of today and ready to go for a Monday morning start if the weather cooperates.
