"Open Bar" at Pizza Factory Lands Groveland Man in Jail |

Groveland, CA...From the Tuolumne County Sheriff's Office...A burglar thinks it's 'open bar' at a closed restaurant - it lands him behind bars. Last night just before 11, Sheriff's Deputies responded to the Pizza Factory on Hwy 120 in Groveland for a report of a burglary. Turns out the business owner, alerted by an alarm, was remotely watching surveillance video and could see a man inside his restaurant leaning against the cash register. He then called the restaurant and the burglar answered...sounding quite drunk.

Moderate Injuries After Chevy vs Bentley Collision on New York Ranch Road |

Jackson, CA...A 70 year old Pittsburg man was driving a 2007 Chevy Pickup on New York Ranch Road southbound at a stated speed of 35-40mph approaching the intersection of China Graveyard Road. A 56 year old man from Spokane was in his 2006 Bentley on China Graveyard Road. For unknown reasons the Pittsburg man turned his pickup to the right into the location of the Bentley. The right front of the pickup struck the left front of the Bentley on China Graveyard Road.

Sonora Man Makes Himself at Home in Laundry Room |

Sonora, CA...Early this morning, just prior to 5:30 a.m., a resident of Snell Street woke up to someone in her home. Officers responded and discovered 28-year-old Jeffery Herdt Jr. of Sonora in the laundry room of the residence. It is believed Herdt entered the home through an unlocked door during the night. He then locked himself in the laundry room and made himself a bed on the floor using some of the homeowner's blankets.

Jamestown, CA...Early Sunday morning, Deputy Knapp contacted several people near a gray Dodge Durango at Sierra Energy Gas Station in Jamestown. The vehicle’s registration was expired and a strong odor of marijuana was emanating from it.

Armed Bank Robbery at Yosemite Bank in Groveland. |

Groveland, CA...Deputies have been on scene investigating an armed robbery that occurred at Yosemite Bank on Main St. in Groveland this afternoon around 2:40. The man entered the bank with a small handgun and demanded money. He is described as a young white adult man wearing a black parka jacket, light colored cargo type pants (Khaki) with low pockets, a beanie hat with a neon green stripe, dark sunglasses and was carrying a silver colored backpack.

Jean Claire Simmons Lost Her Life in Saturday Collision on Tuolumne Road |

Tuolumne, CA...On December 2, 2017, at approximately 1325 hours, the Modesto woman was driving her Toyota eastbound on Tuolumne Road, east of Westside Road, at an unknown state of speed. For unknown reasons, she allowed the right side tires to travel off the right side of the roadway and onto the gravel shoulder. She over corrected and turned the Toyota abruptly to the left. The Toyota traveled out of control across the eastbound and westbound lanes of Tuolumne Road and the front of her car collided with a dirt/rock hillside on the north side of the road. She was flown by air ambulance to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto, where she succumbed to her injuries.
