Mi-Wok Ranger District Front Desk on Stanislaus National Forest Closes Dec. 18

Sonora, CA...The front desk at the Mi-Wok Ranger District office will close indefinitely beginning Dec. 18. The office had been open on Fridays since June. Forest Supervisor Jason Kuiken made the decision to close due to limited staff and the fact that Mi-Wok receives the fewest visitors during the winter season.

Jamestown Man Arrested for Attempted Rape & Sexual Battery

Jamestown, CA...From the Tuolumne Sheriff's Department....On Monday evening, deputies responded to Jamestown Terrace Apartments on Preston Lane for a reported assault that turned out to be much more. Deputies contacted 38-year-old Raymond Wine outside of his apartment near the laundry room at the complex. He was undressing himself and acting bizarre.

Yosemite Conservancy Names Mark Marschall to Lead its Volunteer Program

San Francisco, CA...Forty-year National Park Service Employee Brings a Deep Understanding of Yosemite National Park to His New Role. Yosemite Conservancy announced that Mariposa resident and long-time National Park Service ranger Mark Marschall will lead its volunteer program. “Mark brings a deep understanding of Yosemite National Park to his new role as volunteer program manager. His knowledge about the land itself and the people who work here make him an excellent leader for Conservancy volunteers,” said Yosemite Conservancy Director of Yosemite Operations Adonia Ripple.

Groveland Bank Robber May Be The Serial Bank Robber “Khaki Bandit"

Groveland, CA...On December 5th at about 2:30 PM, the Yosemite Bank in Groveland was robbed by a man armed with a handgun. The suspect is described as a white male, between 25-35 years of age, 5’10”-6’0” tall, between 150-170 pounds with an athletic build.

Two Perish on Harmony Lane in Apparent Murder - Suicide

Sonora, CA...From the Tuolumne County Sheriff's Dept...On Monday afternoon, Sheriff's Deputies responded to a home on Harmony Lane in Sonora for a welfare check after the occupants had not been heard from for a few days. Deputies discovered two people inside the home who suffered fatal gunshot wounds. A preliminary investigation suggests a murder-suicide occurred.
