Yosemite National Park Announces the Opening Date for the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias |

Yosemite, CA...The Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias will Reopen for summer. Yosemite National Park announces that the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias will reopen to the public at 9:00 am on Friday, June 15, 2018. The Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias has been closed since July 2015 to complete a landmark restoration project. In partnership with Yosemite Conservancy, the National Park Service has been working to improve natural hydrology, construct an ADA-accessible boardwalk, construct an improved welcome plaza, and improve the overall visitor experience.

La Grange, CA...A new state fish advisory issued today provides safe eating advice for black bass species, Channel Catfish, Common Carp, Sacramento Sucker, and sunfish species from Don Pedro Lake in Tuolumne County. The California Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) developed the recommendations based on the levels of mercury and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) found in fish caught from this lake.

Sonora, CA...From the Tuolumne Sheriff's Dept....Sometimes you get lucky by being in the right place at the right time. One of our Deputies was driving through downtown Sonora Friday evening. He was flagged down by three people who had just witnessed a hit-and-run collision involving a white Ford pickup. The Deputy had the truck in his sights and was able to catch up to it as it turned onto Lyons Street from Shepherd Street. He watched as the truck veered in and out of its lane.
