Murphys, CA...On September 23rd Bret Harte, Calaveras, and Summerville FFA chapters attended the 21st annual Concours De Elegance at Ironstone Vineyards along with the 4H Organizations. The event hosted over 300 antique vintage cars as well as vintage trailers, motorcycles, and wooden boats in an effort to raise money for the FFA and 4H organizations statewide. FFA members educated the public about the FFA organization, California Agriculture and specific leadership opportunities available to them through agricultural education.

Jamestown, CA...California State Parks, Railtown 1897 State Historic Park (SHP) and the California State Railroad Museum Foundation are proud to present lantern-lit “Tales of the Roundhouse” haunted tours and train rides on two special evenings – Friday, October 20 & Saturday, October 21, 2017, starting at 7 p.m. each night. Led by engaging and entertaining guides, “Tales of the Roundhouse” participants will hear the real life and death tales of past railroad workers and passengers who lost their lives in ghastly accidents, gruesome train wrecks and sometimes by cold-blooded murder.

Elton Redick Homicide Suspect Captured

Big Oak Flat, CA...Today at 3 PM, Tuolumne County Sheriff's Detectives were searching the area of Big Oak Flat for homicide suspect 42-year-old Elton Quintin Redick. Detectives saw Redick walking on Hwy 120 in Big Oak Flat. They located him trying to hide underneath the Claim Jumper Outpost business and quickly took him into custody.

Chain Installer Permits Now Available. Mandatory Orientation Class for New Applicants is October 26th

Angels Camp, CA...The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is accepting applications for individuals interested in becoming chain installers on California State Highways in the Sierra Nevada. Permits are available for State Highways 4, 88, 89, 108, and 207 in Calaveras, Alpine, Amador and Tuolumne Counties.

Two Arrested in Sonora for Drug & Other Charges

Sonora, CA...Just before midnight on Saturday, 21-year-old Xavier Benzel of Sonora drove into the parking lot of AM/PM on Pesce Way in Sonora. Deputy Knapp happened to be in the same parking lot and knew Benzel had a warrant for his arrest for driving on a suspended driver's license.

Groveland, CA...From the Tuolumne County Sheriff's Dept...."Update 2:30 PM: Detectives are conducting interviews and will be processing the scene. No arrests have yet been made. Sheriff's Deputies are on scene at a residence on Black Road in Big Oak Flat, investigating a suspected homicide. An adult man is confirmed deceased."

Man Sought In Connection With Suspected Homicide in Big Oak Flat (Updated)

Groveland, CA...Have you seen this man? The Tuolumne County Sheriff's Office is looking for Elton Redick who is known to use several names including Chris Reed on Facebook and social media. He is a suspect in a homicide that occurred yesterday morning on Black Road in Big Oak Flat. This man is described as 6'2" tall, 180-190 pounds, graying hair and a goatee. He was last seen wearing a white shirt, black and gray camo shorts and black flip flops. He has a tribal style tattoo that wraps around his forearm and a number tattoo on the inner part of his calf.

Major Injuries to Woman Flown to UC Davis, Minor Injuries to Big Rig Driver in Hwy 49 Collision

Columbia, CA...On September 20, 2017, at approximately 1015 hours, a 3 axle Peterbilt dump truck loaded with sand was traveling northbound on SR-49 south of Springfield Road at approximately 45 mph. A Ford F-250 pick-up truck was traveling southbound SR-49 south of Springfield Road at an unknown speed. This location is just north of the city of Sonora. The Ford F-250 crossed over the double yellow lines into the northbound lane, colliding with the Peterbilt head on. The Peterbilt dump truck overturned blocking both lanes of SR-49 and spilling the load of sand onto the roadway. The Ford F-250 sustained major damage and subsequently caught on fire.

Sad Ending to Domestic Case as Sonora Man Takes His Own Life in CHP Parking Lot

Jamestown, CA...From the Sonora Police Dept.."Update at 9:22 AM:...The vehicle came to a stop in the parking lot of the California Highway Patrol Office in Jamestown. The driver, 24-year-old TJ Matthew Porter of Sonora died from a self inflicted gun shot wound shortly after.
