Hwy 88 Closed at Carson Spur For Avalanche Control & Chain Control Updates For 4, 108 & 120 |

Arnold, CA...As the next wave of these systems rolls in Hwy 88 is closed at the Carson Spur before Kirkwood for avalanche control. On Hwy 4 you will need to chain up or engage the 4 wheel drive near Forest Meadows. On Hwy 108 at East Twain Harte those traction aids will be needed. Hwy 120 is still clear at this time.

Marian Edang Shinko from Walnut Creek Lost Her Life Yesterday in Hwy 108/120 Collision |

Jamestown, CA...On Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at approximately 1100 hours, a 2007 Kia Sportage, driven by Marian Shinko, 80 years old, of Walnut Creek, was traveling eastbound on SR 120, east of Tulloch Road. Due to her unsafe speed for the wet roadway surface she was unable to negotiate a curve in the road and lost control of her vehicle. Her vehicle traveled into the center median where it collided with a tree and overturned. The vehicle caught fire and a passing motorist stopped and extricated her from the vehicle. Mrs. Shinko was unresponsive and the motorist started CPR. Mrs. Shinko was pronounced dead on scene by paramedics. She was the solo occupant and impairment is not known at this time, pending autopsy.

Moderate Injuries for Ripon Man in Hwy 108/120 Collision |

Jamestown, CA...On Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at approximately 3:05 pm, a 2008 Chevrolet Express van, driven by Ignacio Moreno, 58 years old, from Ripon, was traveling westbound on State Route 120 approaching Tulloch Dam Road at approximately 65 mph in the #2 (right) lane. Mr. Moreno encountered a slower vehicle ahead of him and attempted to change lanes into to #1 (left) lane. Due to his unsafe speed for the wet roadway surface, he lost control of his vehicle. The van ran off of the roadway onto the center median, up an embankment. Subsequently, the van overturned completely until coming to rest on its right side.

Two Occupied Stolen Vehicles Recovered in One Night by Sonora CHP Officers |

Jamestown, CA - Early morning on Monday, March 12, 2018, two Sonora Area CHP officers paired up in one patrol vehicle recovered two occupied stolen vehicles. Just after 12:30 am, two officers working a graveyard shift were traveling westbound on State Route 108 approaching Yosemite Junction (SR-120). At this time, they observed a silver Honda Accord traveling eastbound on State Route 108, approaching their location, at a high rate of speed. The officers ultimately made enforcement stop on the vehicle for speeding in excess of 20 miles per hour over the posted 55 mph maximum speed limit. The vehicle did not have license plates and the driver and two passengers could not provide any form of identification or documentation for the vehicle.

Jamestown, CA...From the Tuolumne Sheriff's Dept....Fire at Rosalinda’s! Just before 3:30am this morning, we received a call from a California Highway Patrol Officer. He was told Rosalinda’s Gentleman’s Club in Jamestown was on fire and he was on his way to confirm the report.

Arrests Made After Traffic Stop in Jamestown |

Jamestown, CA...From the Tuolumne Sheriff's Dept...This event happened on March 8th on Wigwam Road in Jamestown. One of our Deputies made a traffic stop on a Buick sedan for suspended registration. Of the three occupants in the car, one was on searchable probation. Two more Deputies arrived on scene to assist with a search of the vehicle.

Sonora, CA...From the Tuolumne Sheriff's Office...Our Communication Center has received multiple calls regarding yet another phone scam that seems to be targeting the elderly in our community. Many residents have been receiving calls this evening from (661)552-0555. A male voice says, “You will go to hell if you don’t belong to my church.” Some residents have called the number back and the person on the line demands a $100 donation to their church so they may follow Christ the right way and keep from going to hell.
