Railtown 1897 Seeks Interested Volunteers & Hosts Special Open House on January 30 |

Jamestown, CA...Fascinated by trains? Love working as part of a team? Enjoy meeting with people from near and far? California State Parks and Railtown 1897 State Historic Park (SHP) are now accepting applications for people interested in volunteering to help communicate the fascinating railroading history of the “Movie Railroad” in the beautiful Sierra foothills. Interested volunteers are encouraged to attend a Volunteer Open House on Saturday, January 30, 2016 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Volunteer applications must be submitted by Wednesday, February 10, and a thorough volunteer training program will begin in February. Community members are encouraged to join this worthwhile program that offers an opportunity to support the local state historic park while learning more about California’s rich history, meeting new people and developing friendships with those who share similar interests...

Wanted Suspect With Multiple Felony Charges Arrested In Groveland |

Groveland, CA...After we posted that Joshua Power was WANTED in our community, the tips came pouring in. A surveillance team was put together and we arrested him today at about 12:45 P.M., in the Groveland/ Greeley Hill area. It was a partnership between the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office, US Marshals Service and the Pacific Southwest Apprehension Team. Joshua Powers was a passenger in a vehicle seen driving in the area and the Tuolumne County Sheriff‘s Deputies initiated a traffic stop. Power exited the vehicle and attempted to flee. Power pulled out a utility knife and K9 Cain from the Stockton Police Department, who was part of the Pacific Southwest Team, apprehended Power. Power was taken to the Sonora Regional Medical Center for custody clearance and booked at the Tuolumne County Jail with a no bail.

Columbia, CA...This spring the Columbia College Foundation will host the 40th Annual Columbia Wine Tasting – a benefit event from 1:00 to 4:00pm SATURDAY, April 9 to support the Columbia College Hospitality Management Program. This is the first year the Columbia Wine Tasting will be featured on a SATURDAY. Guests will savor tempting hors d’oeuvres prepared by students of the Columbia College hospitality management program, enjoy guest food vendors, and sample premium wines from more than 70 wineries, including vintners from Napa, Sonoma, Lodi, Paso Robles, along with a number of local Sierra Foothill producers.

Trio Arrested & Fourth Sought On Drug Charges In Sonora |

Sonora, CA...On 01/21/16 at about 8:45 A.M., The Tuolumne Narcotics Team (TNT), served a search warrant at the Mark Twain Apartments located at 311 Fairview Lane in Sonora, CA. Marijuana, methamphetamine, heroin, prescription pills, drug paraphernalia, one handgun and one shotgun were collected by TNT Agents during the search of the apartments. TNT Agents also located evidence relating to the sales of narcotics. Constance McGee 32 Years of Age, Justin King 35 Years of Age, and Brook Allen 21 Years of Age, were arrested. McGee, King, and Allen were booked on charges of possession of controlled substances, possession of controlled substances for sale, unlawful possession of firearms, maintaining a drug house and child endangerment. They are each being held on a $30,000 bail. King was also booked on a misdemeanor theft and misdemeanor possession of narcotics warrant.

Kitzbuehl, Austria (January 20, 2016) – Six athletes from the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association’s U16 National Training Group (NTG) gained some World Cup course experience, and got a taste of what it’s like to race in Europe, when they competed against nine other teams in the Hahnenkamm Juniors event Wednesday.

Sheriff's Department Seeking Information On Deceased Man |

Sonora, CA...On 01/12/2016 at about 12:00 P. M. a citizen reported seeing a man who appeared to be deceased near Sullivan Creek behind Mother Lode Motors in Sonora. Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Deputies and Detectives responded to the scene. The deceased man was later identified as Garland Williams a 40 year old resident of Sonora. There is no foul play suspected at this time.
