Young Man From Washington Died In Tragic Tree Work Fatality On Saturday

Twain Harte, CA...A young man from Washington perished in a tragic tree work fatality on Saturday. He becomes the second recent death. From the Tuolumne County Sheriff's Department "The young man who died Saturday from a tree accident in Twain Harte, is 21 year old Jorge Garcia Moctezuma from Washington. Jorge and his crew at Action Trees a company out of Kentucky, were working in the area under a tree removal contract through Trees Inc. and PG&E. Jorge was working on a 100 foot Ponderosa Tree and had just cut a 20 foot section from the top. The cut piece came down and swung back and forth causing the tree Jorge was on to break below him. The tree fell to the ground on Cedar Springs Road taking Jorge and live power lines with it. Emergency personnel arrived and sadly Jorge was deceased. The crew who witnessed this tragic event were very distraught. The Tuolumne County Sheriff's Office Chaplin was called and stayed on scene to be with the crew members.
Jamestown, CA...On April 12, 2017 at approximately 9:40 pm, 21 year old Sonora resident, Abigail Stewart, was driving her 2004 Subaru Forester northbound on Sawmill Flat Road approaching the intersection with Rambler Road, while under the influence of alcohol. Due to her high level of alcohol intoxication, Ms. Stewart allowed her vehicle to drift off of the east road edge. The Subaru continued along the road until it struck a large rock and then a large tree. The large tree effectively stopped Ms. Stewart’s vehicle.

California Gold Rush History Comes to Life With Diggins Tent Town 1852

Columbia, CA...Columbia State Historic Park will present “Diggins Tent Town 1852”, their annual living history event this coming May 18th through May 21st. Sponsored by the non-profit organization Friends of Columbia and Columbia State Historic Park and depicted by over 150 costumed volunteers, visitors can experience the events and environment of an 1850’s mining camp that is re-created in detail from the clothing, food and entertainment.

Sonora, CA...A bit of snow on Saturday put a dent in the crowds but as the sun rolled around on Sunday the Mother Lode Fairgrounds was filled with vendors and potential customers. All of the exhibit halls and the grounds were filled with local businesses promoting services available here locally. One of the great things that events like this always remind us of is that when you do business here locally you are dealing most of the time with local folks who have invested everything they have into making this area better and building their business dreams.
