San Andreas, CA...Tonight the Calaveras County Chamber of Commerce held the first of two Candidates Nights for candidates in the races for contested seats. The District One contestants met this evening at the San Andreas Town Hall and answered questions across the spectrum from economic development, marijuana, general plan & more. Incumbent Cliff Edson, challengers Sharon Romano & former Supervisor Gary Tofanelli are battling for the honor to serve the next four years.

West Point, CA...Colby was born November 18, 2001 in Fresno, California. Colby was an active and prominent 4H member showing guinea pigs, rabbits, pigmy goats, and pigs. He loved being a member of the West Point's basketball, soccer, and T-ball teams. He was also a Webelos Cubscout participating in pack meetings, events, and outings. Colby was a friend to many and great at leading others at the local community center's food bank, keeping meticulous records. He devoted time and energy to provide services for others in need and loved his music.

San Andreas & Copperopolis, CA...The Calaveras County Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with the Calaveras County Taxpayers Association, the Angels Camp Business Association and the Valley Springs Area Business Association will host our Annual Candidates Night for District 1 and District 4. During this event, each candidate will be given the opportunity to speak on their vision for the county and will be given a series of business related questions. The District 1 Candidates Night will be held on May 5, 2016 from 6pm – 8pm at the San Andreas Town Hall located at 24 Church Hill Street in San Andreas. Valley Springs & Angels Camp, CA...The next Calaveras County “Drop the Drugs” event is coming up on Saturday, April 30, 2016 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at two locations in the county. Community members can prevent prescription and over-the-counter drug theft and abuse by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, or unwanted prescription or illegal drugs. The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked; but collection sites are not equipped to receive sharps (needles.)
