A Few Green Products You Will Actually Use!

Calaveras County, CA...I, like most people, have become accustomed to having certain things in my daily life. Things that I just don't think about because I use them so much. Things like my morning coffee, or grabbing a bottle of water before I leave the house...stuff like that. But those things produce a lot of waste. Of course I recycle where I can, but not everything is recyclable. From used coffee filters to paper towels, a lot of it ends up in the garbage. Paper towels alone produce up to 3,000 tons of waste everyday! At the 2013 International Home & Housewares Show, exhibitors showcased various products to help combat this ever growing problem. U.S. Army Sgt. Mathew William Maddox 1990 - 2013

Wallace, CA...U.S. Army Sgt. Matthew William Maddox of Wallace California died July 5th 2013. Born July 25th 1990, Matt lived in Wallace until he left for Army Basic Training in 2008. Matt attended Calaveras High School where he was active on the wrestling and track team. As a member of Boy Scout Troop 302 Matt attained the rank of Eagle Scout. As a high school senior Matt joined the Delayed Entry Program for the United States Army in August 2007. Upon graduation in June 2008 he signed his enlistment papers as a Fire Support Specialist. After completing Basic Training and AIT Matt went to Airborne school at Ft Benning Georgia. Upon graduation from Airborne Jump School he was assigned to the 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team, Vicenza ltaly. Deployed twice toAfghanistan, and due to separate from theArmyAugust 13, 2013 Matt was in the process of pursuing a career in law enforcement with his goal to become a California Highway Patrol Officer. Matthew is survived by his mother Suzy Maddox, father Mike Maddox and brother Mike Maddox Jr. Members of the 173rd ABCT will escort Sgt. Matthew William Maddox from the San Andreas Memorial Chapel at 8 a.m. July 26th 2013 to Arlington National Cemetery where he will be laid to rest on July 30th at 11 a.m. The Family wishes to thank the community for all the love and support that has been shown...



Members of the Patriot Guard and the 173rd Airborne will be escorting Sgt. Maddox as he makes his way to the Sacramento Airport. It is expected that they will travel through Valley Springs between 8:15am - 8:30am. Members of the community who would like to show their support are encouraged to show up in his honor.

Major Injuries to Valley Springs Man in Motorcycle Accident

Valley Springs, CA...A 52 year old Stockton man was driving his car westbound on Hwy 12 behind a slower vehicle. He wanted to pass the slower vehicle and did not observe any approaching traffic. What he failed to observe as he was passing was a 2007 Harley Davidson being riden by a 30 year old Valley Springs man. He was unable to move back into his lane because of the slower car he was passing and the left side of his care impacted the left side of the approaching motorcycle. The accident caused major injuries to the Valley Springs man and he was life-flighted to a Sacramento area hospital. The CHP release is enclosed...

Valley Springs, CA...Crews are working a rollover accident on Paloma Rd / Watertown Rd. Please use caution in the area. In Tuolumne County there is a minor injury rollover on Hwy 108 near Woods Creek and lanes are affected in this one. Lets be careful out there..
