The 2013 CCWD Rate Road Show. Copper Last Night...Rancho Tonight |
Posted by: thepinetree on 06/26/2013 11:03 AM

Copperopolis, CA...The CCWD Rate Increase Road Show rolled into Copperopolis last night. It was another contentious meeting with the Rock Creek Park Community Room filled with ratepayers and citizens concerned with the proposed rate increases from the district. Even though the mood in the room was anything but sanguine it was however calmer than the donnybrook that was the Arnold town hall. The race will probably go down to the wire to see if the ratepayer groups can get enough votes to stop the increases from going into place....
Above are some photos from last night. We didn't get the chance to record last night's meeting but the CCWD presentation was materially the same as the one in White Pines. So if you have not had the opportunity to review their case for a rate increase video of the White Pines Meeting is below...

A Very Sad Story on a Complete Home Robbery in Valley Springs. ~ By Craig Mullins |
Posted by: thepinetree on 06/24/2013 10:39 AM

Valley Springs, CA...First off I’d like to say I’m a pretty lucky man. I haven’t experienced much loss in my life other then being diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis a couple years ago. I didn’t have health insurance back then, simply because I couldn’t get it. Being self employed and a one man operation with a pre-existing condition. No insurance company wanted to touch me with medication (Enbrel) that cost over $1,000.00 a month. So I had to dig into my savings to pay for it. Once this new Obomacare thing came about, I can at least now get coverage. As it is currently, under one special program in California called PCIP, the insurance company can’t deny you based on a pre existing condition and it’s somewhat affordable at less then $300.00 a month for a male my age (36)....

Water Rates and Seed Corn ~ Letter To The Editor by Al Segalla |
Posted by: thepinetree on 06/23/2013 10:13 PM
|
Copperopolis, CA...In the olden days, a farmer growing corn would save a portion of the harvest as seed corn to plant next year. He didn’t have to do this; he could eat the seed corn. But, if he ate the seed corn, there would be no crop next year and the family would suffer.
