Burson, CA...We had the Great pleasure of spending some time chatting with Calaveras County District 1 Supervisor Candidate, Gary Tofanelli, at his lovely home in Valley Springs. In two words Gary is a STEEL MAN! He has spent his entire life in the steel industry. He rose through the ranks to manage a crew of 250 in a Union Steel Company before starting his own steel business16 years ago. He has lived in Calaveras County for almost two decades and has served on the Calaveras County Grand Jury for four terms and has been very active in his community...

San Andreas, CA...After a round of public meetings, including a study session with the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors, and much public dialogue we can report the following to you. We confirmed that the Building Department changed the way they “interpret” our current Fire and Life Safety Code mid year 2007. They were strongly challenged for taking this new position and we did have some limited success in softening the impact. Where the mitigation since 1992 was to pave the driveway, that is no longer the rule of the land....

Valley Springs, CA...Hwy 26 now has it's very own Calaveras County Ore Cart. This is the latest in the continued efforts of the Chamber of Commerce to mark every entrance into the county with a Beautiful and Iconic Ore Cart. The cart which was built by Angels Sheet Metal and dropped into place yesterday morning still needs to have the finishing touches put in place but all of the "Heavy Lifting" has been done.

Valley Springs, CA...The latest place to eat in Valley Springs opened on Wednesday! This is the sixth restaurant for the Auburn based group that also has the Sonora, Angels Camp, Jackson, Auburn and Loomis stores. It is a beautiful new facility. The new Taco Bell was packed when we stopped by yesterday. One interesting note...

Angels Camp, CA...Yesterday was the second in a series of Economic Committee Meetings leading up to a County Wide Economic Summit in late June. A dozen or so Government & Business leaders met again at the County Government Center for over 2 hours planning and prioritizing items to focus on. Valley Springs, CA...On April 8, 2008, at approximately 2:15pm, Sheriff's Detectives and members of the Narcotics Team received information that a parolee at large was in the Valley Springs area. Detectives identified the suspect and attempted to contact the parole agent, and the suspect fled on a BMX style bicycle. After a short chase the suspect crashed his bicycle.
